We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Gas & Power Accountant based in Houston, TX.\nReporting to the Marketing Accounting Supervisor, the Gas & Power Accountant is responsible of ensuring pipeline and power payments and gas and power settlements invoicing are sent out per contract and that funds are sent and/or received timely and accurately\nThe following are job duties expected of the Gas & Power Accountant:\nConfirm monthly AR/AP invoices with our 3rd party Customers and/or Vendors and resolving discrepancies timely\nEnsure counterparty settlements are reconciled to the trading system and paid on time.\nAssist in customer disputes (pricing/volume)\nReconcile intercompany actualized volumes and pricing per our trading systems with internal accounting teams for equity and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.\nPerform month-end closing procedures and submit reports on time in accordance with the department calendar and schedule.\nAnalyze trading activity and explain variances between current month, prior month, and forecasts.\nPreparation of recurring, standard and adjusting journal entries in accordance with GAAP\nCollaborate with the financial analysis team for balance sheet and income statement analysis and margin tie-outs\nGather supporting documents and provide explanations for audit requests for consolidated and stand-alone financial statements (as applicable).\nPrepare intercompany reports.\nAssist in testing and analysis for any new trade system implementations\nDocument and update desk procedures for assigned tasks\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or a minimum of 21 hours of accounting with a business degree\nExceptional analytical and organizational skills\nStrong ability in managing and processing large quantities of data.\nAbility to communicate in a professional manner and establish effective working relationships with internal operations and external customers.\nCollaborative spirit who displays a willingness to help others and lead by example.\nCapacity to maintain an optimistic and positive attitude.\nMotivated, self-directed, and results-driven approach to work, also takes ownership of assigned tasks.\nAbility to research and prepare analysis to respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely, professional, and thorough manner.\nCreative thinker who can identify processes for continuous process improvement opportunities.\nAbility to anticipate issues and how they impact the team or other stakeholders, and act on them in advance.\nAbility to learn quickly and adapt and manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing dynamic environment.\nEmploy fundamental accounting skills: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and account reconciliations.\nWorking proficiency and knowledge in Excel, i.e., mining/manipulating data.\nInitiative to consistently meet internal and external deadlines.\nOvertime will be required during critical times.\nDesired Qualifications\nSAP software application experience\nExperience working in a trading system, Horizon and OATI experience a plus.\nKnowledge of gas and power settlements\nEnergy Marketing industry experience (2+ years)\nAccounting experience in Energy Supply & Marketing\nRecruitment Fraud\nIt has come to our attention various individuals and/or organizations are contacting people falsely pretending to recruit on behalf of Oxy.
