Forever. To create the best experience for our new hire, this role requires you to be based within +4 / -4 UTC.\nWe are looking for a hands-on Senior Accountant to own day-to-day accounting, monthly reporting, and ERP activities for Oyster entities around the world, with a focus on EMEA coverage. You will combine rigorous accounting judgment with proactive stakeholder management, lead close and audit activities, investigate complex discrepancies, and improve the systems and processes that keep a distributed finance function accurate and scalable.\nKey Responsibilities\nManage full-cycle accounting and intercompany transactions for global subsidiaries.\n\nPrepare and review financial statements and balance-sheet reconciliations across multiple entities.\n\nLead month-end and year-end close activities, maintaining clear checklists and documentation.\n\nCoordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual local statutory filings and provide complete support packages.\n\nOversee local statutory audits and resolve auditor questions and adjustments.\n\nReconcile local statutory records to the ERP\n\nConduct financial analysis, identify trends or discrepancies, and present decision-useful insights.\n\nOwn assigned ERP activities and improve accounting standards, controls, documentation, and automation.\n\nProactively coordinate dependencies across Finance, Payroll, Tax, Legal, and external partners.\n\nExecute ad hoc financial projects and support junior teammates with practical guidance.\n\nCore Requirements\nAt least 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 1 year operating at senior-accountant scope.\n\nCPA (or part-qualified) or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.\n\nStrong knowledge of multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, financial reporting, reconciliations, close, and audit support.\n\nAdvanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and manipulation of large datasets.\n\nMeticulous attention to detail and a logical, evidence-based approach to problem solving.\n\nAbility to prioritize competing deadlines and maintain quality across several entities.\n\nStrong written and spoken English, with effective stakeholder management in an asynchronous environment.\n\nProactive follow-through, sound judgment, and a continuous-improvement and automation mindset.\n\nBonus / Nice-to-Have Experience\nNetSuite or a comparable ERP.\n\nPayroll accounting or SaaS experience.\n\nHigh-growth startup or rapidly changing international environment.\n\nAccounting across EMEA jurisdictions, including local statutory reporting and local-to-group reconciliation.\n\nThis might not be right for you if...\nYou prefer a narrowly scoped, single-entity role with limited stakeholder contact.\n\nYou are uncomfortable investigating ambiguous discrepancies or making evidence-based accounting recommendations.\n\nYou need close supervision to manage deadlines, follow up with stakeholders, or keep work documented.\n\nYou prefer manual routines and have little interest in improving controls, systems, or automation.\n\nYou'll also need\nA reliable home internet connection and fluency in both written and spoken English.\n\nHow we work together at Oyster\nOur values guide the work we do, the decisions we make, and the culture that makes Oyster what it is.
