In this role, you’ll help provide delicious, nutritious, and appealing meals for our residents while ensuring meals are prepared safely and according to individual dietary needs.\nPosition Details\nFull-Time: 40 hours per week\nStarting Pay: $20.95/hour and up, based on experience\nWeekday Hours: 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM\nEvery Other Weekend: 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM\nSchedule: Includes every other weekend and every other holiday rotation\nWhat You’ll Do\nPrepare and cook a variety of foods, including meats, vegetables, starches, soups, salads, breakfast items, desserts, and other menu items.\nPrepare regular, mechanically altered, and therapeutic diets according to menus, recipes, nutritional plans, diet orders, and resident preferences.\nFollow proper food handling, sanitation, and food safety procedures.\nEnsure meals are prepared in the correct portions and maintained at appropriate temperatures.\nHelp oversee food service line and resident meal tray setup.\nServe meals in an attractive and appetizing manner while providing excellent customer service to residents.\nEnsure meals and beverages are served accurately according to diet orders and resident preferences.\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and food service environment.\nAssist with food storage, labeling, dating, inventory, deliveries, and departmental records.\nMonitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns.\nHelp train and orient new Culinary Service employees as directed.\nSupervise Culinary Service Assistants during assigned work hours.\nAssist with special events and other culinary service needs.\nAssume the responsibilities of the Head Cook and/or Dietary Supervisor when needed.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nRequired:\nHigh school diploma.\nAt least 1 year of experience as a cook or cook assistant in a healthcare, high-volume institutional, or senior living setting. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.\nAbility to prepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.\nKnowledge of food safety, sanitation, dietary procedures, food values, and nutrition.\nAbility to follow written and verbal instructions.\nStrong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.\nAbility to work effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors, visitors, and other members of the care team.\nLeadership skills and willingness to supervise and work collaboratively with Culinary Service Assistants.\nPhysical & Work Environment\nThis is a fast-paced, hands-on position with very little downtime.
