{"id":1003144,"url":"https://alion.io/job/pacgroup-machine-safety-specialist","title":"Machine Safety Specialist","company":{"id":720692,"name":"Pacgroup","domain":"pacgroup.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/pacgroup","size_band":null,"is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Greenhouse","truth_index":null},"role":"Industrial Engineering","role_family":"Industrial Engineering","seniority":null,"employment_type":"contractor","work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["United States"],"countries":["US"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":{"min":50,"max":null,"currency":"USD","period":"hour","gross":null,"usd_annual":100000},"salary_estimate":null,"experience_years_min":null,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[],"status":"closed","first_seen_at":"2026-08-13T19:52:06Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-09-16","last_verified_at":"2026-09-26T00:58:09Z","board_verified":false,"closed_at":"2026-09-26T00:58:09Z","days_open":43,"trust":{"level":"not_scored","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":43},"description":"Machine Safety & Risk Assessment Engineer - Contract \nEmployment Type: Fixed-Term / Project-Based Contract (3 to 6 months)\nRate: Up to $50 USD per hour, dependent on experience \nTravel: Flights, accommodation, per diem and approved travel expenses provided \nDeployment Duration: Typically 1-2 weeks per assignment \nRole Overview\nWe are seeking experienced Machine Safety & Risk Assessment Engineers to support a growing program of machinery, automation and material-handling safety projects across the USA and Mexico. \nThe role will support short-duration client deployments involving machinery risk assessments (MRA), operational risk assessments, machine safety compliance reviews and onsite validation & verification (V&V). \nProjects will cover a diverse range of industrial and automated equipment, including printing and production machinery, material-handling systems, conveyors, automated equipment, airport ground-support equipment, loading systems, transfer equipment and prototype machinery. \nThe successful candidate will be comfortable working independently within operational facilities, engaging with engineering and operations teams, inspecting machinery and producing technically robust risk-assessment documentation. \nKey Responsibilities \nConduct onsite machinery and equipment risk assessments.\nIdentify mechanical, electrical, functional, ergonomic and operational hazards.\nEvaluate risks associated with normal operation, setup, maintenance, cleaning, fault recovery and foreseeable misuse.\nReview existing machine guarding and safeguarding arrangements.\nAssess emergency-stop systems, interlocks, access controls, safety devices and other protective measures.\nReview machinery against applicable client requirements, recognized standards and regulatory requirements.\nSupport the development and completion of formal Machinery Risk Assessments (MRAs).\nConduct operational risk assessments considering interaction between equipment, operators, maintenance personnel and the surrounding workplace.\nIdentify risk-reduction measures and recommend practical engineering and administrative controls.\nReview OEM documentation, drawings, manuals, specifications and existing risk-assessment information.\nSupport assessment of modified, prototype or locally developed machinery.\nParticipate in discussions with OEMs, integrators, engineering teams, site operations and EHS representatives.\nProduce clear findings, photographs, evidence and technical notes during site assessments.\nSupport preparation of professional client reports, risk registers and corrective-action recommendations.\nConduct onsite Validation & Verification activities following completion of risk assessments and implementation of corrective actions.\nVerify that identified safeguards and risk-reduction measures have been implemented and are functioning as intended.\nDocument outstanding gaps and provide evidence-based close-out recommendations.\nWork in accordance with client site safety requirements and project procedures. \nTypical Equipment / Projects \nAssignments may include assessments of: \nAutomated and semi-automated machinery\nIndustrial printing equipment\nEmbroidery and textile machinery\nConveyors and material-handling systems\nTransfer belts and loading equipment\nDock and loading systems\nGround Support Equipment (GSE)\nAirport material-handling equipment\nShaker / vibratory equipment\nPallet and container handling systems\nAutomated packaging and fulfilment equipment\nPrototype or locally engineered machinery\nModified machinery and existing installations \nTechnical Knowledge \nCandidates should have practical knowledge of machinery safety and risk assessment methodologies.
