You can read more about us in this letter from our founders.\nWhy This Role Matters\nAs the Infrastructure Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the integration of mechanical building system requirements for our nuclear fusion demonstration system. You will work across several teams to develop the building systems which enables us to achieve net facility gain. During construction you will work with design consulting engineering and contractors to ensure a quality installation which can be safely maintained. Following construction, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and future upgrades of the building systems. This position is based in San Leandro, California and will require up to 25% travel to our Los Lunas, New Mexico facility for the first 2 years during the design and permitting process. The role will transition to Los Lunas, New Mexico in 2028, after which the expectation is relocation to New Mexico or near 100% presence in New Mexico.\nWhat You'll Do\nDevelop facility mechanical equipment requirements and guidelines forbuilding systems including HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and other\ninfrastructure systems.\n\nAssist in the design and development of utility systems includingpneumatic, fluid, and vacuum systems.\n\nInterface with engineers, scientists, and technicians to obtain facilitymechanical inputs.\n\nWork with the Infrastructure Design Team to ensure building mechanicalsystems are documented and designed appropriately for permitting\ndesign, construction, commissioning, and operations.\n\nDevelop building systems commissioning, maintenance, and operationsplans.\n\nWhat You Bring\nMinimum BS, Mechanical Engineering\nMinimum 7+ years of experience working in design, construction, facilityoperations, and commissioning for industrial, manufacturing, or\nresearch facilities\n\nExperience with HVAC, process piping, fire sprinkler, and plumbingsystems\n\nHands on experience with industrial, manufacturing, or research facilitycommissioning and operations\n\nStrong multidisciplinary program management skills and ability to workdiligently across cross functional teams\n\nProactive, doer, and self starter mindset\nCooperative and positive attitude which influences your peers to be thebest versions of themselves\n\nTrack record of reliability and ability to drive results\nBonus Points For\nPE license\nExperience working in a startup\nExperience working in industries such as: fusion, energy, aerospace,chemical\n\nPay Range:\n$138,100—$207,100 USD\nTOTAL COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS FOR ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES\nIndustry-competitive salary\n\nEquity plan\n\n6% employer 401k matching\n\nGenerous paid time off (including sick leave, vacation, paid family leave)\n\nMedical, Dental, and Vision insurance\n\nActual base salary offered will be determined by: experience, skills, and work location.
