The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals that meet residents' dietary needs while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, the Cook may assist with overseeing daily kitchen operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nPrepare and cook meals according to approved menus and recipes\nEnsure meals meet physician-ordered dietary restrictions and special dietary needs\nPrepare and serve food in appropriate portions\nPrepare pureed and modified-consistency diets accurately\nRecord and monitor food temperatures to ensure food safety compliance\nMaintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area\nAssist with meal service and tray preparation as needed\nClean cooking equipment, serving carts, and workstations\nMaintain proper sanitizer solutions and follow infection control procedures\nMonitor food quality, presentation, and resident satisfaction\nReport resident concerns and dietary issues to nursing leadership and administration\nParticipate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff\nEnsure all cleaning schedules and sanitation standards are followed\nWork cooperatively with all departments to provide excellent resident care\nQualifications\nMust be at least 18 years of age\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred\nMinimum of one year of cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care environment\nKnowledge of therapeutic diets and dietary restrictions\nStrong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices\nServSafe Certification required or ability to obtain and maintain certification\nExperience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred\nMust remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health\nWhat Makes You a Great Fit\nExperience preparing meals for seniors and healthcare populations\nUnderstanding of special diets and nutritional standards\nFriendly, professional, and resident-focused\nStrong organizational and time-management skills\nDependable and team-oriented\nCompassion for an underserved population\nApply Today\nJoin a team that values your contributions, supports your growth, and recognizes the important role you play in residents' daily lives.
