This position is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals for residents while maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary kitchen environment in compliance with all health and safety regulations.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nMaintain kitchen and cooking areas in a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary condition\n\nPrepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities\n\nFollow approved menus, recipes, and portion control guidelines\n\nAccurately prepare special and therapeutic diets\n\nPrepare pureed foods and modified textures as required\n\nRecord and monitor food temperatures for all meals\n\nMaintain proper sanitizer (quaternary solution) levels in buckets\n\nAssist with serving meals and setting up serving carts\n\nClean cooking areas, equipment, and serving carts after meals\n\nEnsure cleaning schedules are followed consistently\n\nPresent food in an appealing and resident-friendly manner\n\nReport resident care concerns or potential issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing\n\nParticipate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff\n\nWork cooperatively with all departments\n\nSupervise dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, as needed\n\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nMay have supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor\n\nQualifications\nEducation & Experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required\n\nMinimum one (1) year of cooking experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred\n\nLanguage Skills\nAbility to read technical procedures and follow recipes\n\nAbility to communicate effectively with managers and coworkers\n\nMathematical Skills\nAbility to apply basic math concepts including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions\n\nReasoning Ability\nAbility to solve practical problems\n\nAbility to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule-based instructions\n\nCertificates, Licenses & Registrations\nMust obtain and maintain a ServSafe Certificate\n\nKnowledge and experience with PointClickCare (PCC) preferred\n\nMust remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health\n\nPhysical Demands\nFrequent standing and walking\n\nAbility to lift up to 50 pounds\n\nFrequent reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling\n\nOccasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling\n\nVisual abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception\n\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions\n\nWork Environment\nKitchen and food service environment\n\nNoise level typically low to moderate\n\nReasonable accommodations available as needed\n\nAdditional Information\nThis job description does not restrict management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time.
