This position oversees daily nursing operations, supports licensed nurses and CNAs, responds to clinical concerns, and ensures residents receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality care throughout the night.\nThe ideal candidate is a confident clinical leader with strong assessment, communication, and decision-making skills.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nSupervise and coordinate nursing operations throughout the assigned shift.\nProvide leadership, instruction, and support to LVNs, treatment nurses, CNAs, and other nursing personnel.\nMake rounds, assess resident-care needs, and provide an accurate shift report.\nPerform skilled nursing assessments and monitor changes in residents’ conditions.\nNotify physicians, the Director of Nursing, and responsible parties of significant findings or changes in condition.\nAdminister medications, treatments, and IV therapy according to physician orders and professional standards.\nEnsure residents receive prompt assistance and timely responses to call lights.\nCoordinate and participate in direct resident care as needed.\nRespond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate clinical direction.\nAssist physicians and other healthcare providers during visits and examinations.\nEnsure physician orders are current, accurate, signed, and communicated to appropriate staff and disciplines.\nVerify laboratory specimens are collected as ordered, results are received promptly, and physicians are notified appropriately.\nCoordinate preparations for new admissions and ensure necessary documentation, medications, and equipment are available.\nOversee care-plan implementation and monitor compliance with nursing standards and regulations.\nReview clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.\nEnsure incidents are documented, investigated, and reported appropriately.\nComplete audits of medication carts, medication rooms, clinical documentation, and nursing practices.\nMonitor infection-prevention practices and reinforce established protocols.\nCollaborate with Pharmacy, Laboratory, Rehabilitation, and other ancillary providers.\nFacilitate effective communication among nursing staff and the interdisciplinary team.\nCommunicate professionally with residents, families, physicians, and healthcare partners.\nCoach, counsel, educate, and support employees to maintain or improve performance.\nParticipate in staff orientation, training, quality assurance, performance improvement, and survey preparation.\nIdentify staffing concerns and communicate needs to nursing leadership.\nReport significant clinical, staffing, or operational concerns to the Director of Nursing.\nPerform additional clinical and supervisory duties as assigned.\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nThe RN Supervisor assists with the overall supervision, direction, education, and management of nursing personnel during the assigned shift.\nQualifications\nGraduate of an accredited school of nursing required.\nBachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.\nCurrent California Registered Nurse license in good standing required.\nCurrent CPR certification required.\nAt least two years of nursing experience preferred, ideally in skilled nursing or long-term care.\nPrevious charge nurse or supervisory experience strongly preferred.\nExperience with IV therapy, skilled assessments, medication administration, and emergency response.\nKnowledge of federal and California skilled nursing requirements.\nExperience with PointClickCare or another electronic health-record system preferred.\nExcellent clinical judgment, leadership, and problem-solving skills.\nStrong written and verbal communication abilities.\nAbility to organize, prioritize, and make sound decisions during overnight operations.\nMust maintain all continuing-education and licensure requirements.\nPhysical Requirements\nThis position frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, speaking, and hearing. The employee must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl while providing resident care.\nThe position requires sufficient visual, auditory, and physical ability to assess residents, administer care, operate equipment, and respond to emergencies.
