Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility and may be required by the Director of Nursing (DON) and/or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) when applicable, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.\nEssential Duties\nCoordinate and participate in resident care.\nManage and administer IVs.\nSupervise, instruct and assist LVN/LPN Nurses, Treatment Nurses and CNAs in provision of care with\nprompt response to call signals.\nMake rounds and provide report.\nPerform skilled care assessments.\nParticipate in orientation and on-going training of staff.\nRespond to and monitor care issues and changes in condition.\nAssist residents in achieving the highest practicable level of self-care, independence and well-being.\nSupervise staff, including taking or assisting with appropriate disciplinary measures.\nAssist physicians and other healthcare providers when making visits and conducting examinations.\nCommunicate with physicians and other health professionals regarding resident care, treatment and changes in\ncondition.\nCommunicate with resident families/significant others regarding care.\nCoordinate preparation for new admissions.\nCoordinate and respond to medical emergencies.\nCommunicate new or updated orders for rehabilitation therapies.\nVerify laboratory test samples are obtained as ordered, results are received timely and physicians are notified\nof results promptly.\nProvide resident care including carrying out physician’s orders for care, providing medication and\ntreatment.\nReport significant findings or changes in condition and potential concerns to Director of Nursing.\nParticipate in development, maintenance and implementation of the facility’s quality assurance program for\nthe nursing department.\nParticipate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested\nby Administrator, Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing.\nOversee direct care activities to assure care deliverly is consistent and follows policies and\nprocedures.\nOversee the development and implementation of care plans. Review for regulatory compliance and\nnursing standards.\nAssure physician orders are current, accurate, signed, and communicated to the nursing staff and\nother clinical disciplines.\nAssure documentation and investigation of incidents are appropriate and monitor for accuracy and\ncompleteness.\nFacilitate interdisciplinary communication and collaboration.\nCollaborate with ancillary services for efficient, timely, and accurate delivery of services and\nreports (Pharmacy, Labs, Therapies).\nRegularly communicate information and changes to staff.\nCounsel, coach, and educate employees to maintain or improve performance.\nComplete audits of the med carts, med rooms, charting/documentation and other nursing practices.\nMonitor and evaluate infection control practices.\nParticipate in new employee orientation and trainings.\nIdentify staffing needs.\nSupervisory Requirements\nAssist with the overall supervision of and management of the nursing staff.\nQualification\nEducation and/or Experience\nMinimum requirements to perform this position include graduation\nfrom an Accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.\n2 years or more experience preferably in a long-term care facility and a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.\nKnowledge and experience with EHR software preferred (PCC)\nLanguage Skills\nAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals,\nprofessional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills\nMathematical Skills\nAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and\nproportions to practical situations.\nReasoning Ability\nAbility to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.\nCertificates, Licenses, Registrations\nCurrent Registered Nursing License (RN), current CPR certification.\nKnowledge and experience with PCC preferred.\nMust maintain all required continuing education/licensing.\nMust remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing at all times.\nPhysical Demands\nThe essential functions of this position require the following physical abilities:\nStanding and/or walking very frequently.
