As Associate General Counsel, you’ll work directly with our Head of Legal to build the legal function at a healthcare company that serves some of the most complex, highest-need patients, and you’ll shape how we scale.\nGrowing in this space means working through telehealth regulation, Medicaid and Medicare program requirements, privacy and data use, payer and provider contracting, and state-by-state licensure and operating rules. The questions are new, the rules are shifting, and the answers don’t sit in a playbook.\nAt a company our size, you won’t be a specialist in a silo or a reviewer at the end of the line - you’ll be a trusted partner to Product, Operations, Clinical, and the Executive team, helping them move quickly and with confidence. You’ll take on a wide range of matters, from regulatory strategy to complex payer agreements. You’ll also have real ownership. The templates, processes, and policies you build will become the foundation the legal team runs on as we grow, and you’ll have a real voice in how the department is built.\nThis role reports directly to the Head of Legal.\nWhat You’ll Do\nLegal & Regulatory Guidance\nLead advisor on corporate, healthcare regulatory, litigation, commercial, product, employment, and privacy matters. \nMonitor regulatory developments and translate their impact into clear, actionable guidance for product, clinical, and operations teams.\nCollaborate with operational, clinical and marketing leaders to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations (e.g. HIPAA, Anti-Kickback, Corporate Practice of Medicine). \nUnderstand and provide business friendly guidance on use and impact of artificial intelligence and other technologies in healthcare programs. \nCommercial Strategy & Contracting \nWork on contract development and negotiation-drafting, redlining, and advising on deal terms for health plans, vendors, and partners. \nDraft templates and playbooks for contracting with partners, including service agreements, BAAs, NDAs, and other agreements.. \nProvide legal and regulatory guidance related to Medicaid, Medicare, value-based care, and product development to support commercial strategy. \nRisk Identification & Building Out Legal Function\nAct as a trusted advisor to business, product, and clinical teams - flagging legal risks early and helping design compliant solutions rather than blocking progress.\nHelp develop legal processes and policies that support risk mitigation, compliance, and business enablement. \nEffectively manage outside counsel work and spend. \nCross-Functional Collaboration\nPartner with clinical operations on care delivery compliance, including documentation standards, authorization requirements, and billing compliance.\nCollaborate with the People team on compliance training, onboarding, and workforce policy development.\nSupport company litigation needs. \nRepresent Pair Team professionally and compliantly in partner, health plan, and regulatory conversations.\nOther duties as needed.\nWhat You’ll Need \n5+ years of healthcare legal experience and regulatory frameworks (e.g., CMS, OIG, HIPAA, FWA).\n3+ years legal experience at a digital health company, health plan, provider, payor or managed care organization. \nDemonstrated ability to operate in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment - startup or high-growth company experience strongly preferred.\nDeep working knowledge of the healthcare regulatory environment and practical application to technology products and digital health services.\nStrong communication skills - able to explain complex regulatory requirements in plain language and make crisp risk/benefit recommendations to business leaders.\nAbility to multitask, prioritize, and manage projects and tasks.\nExperience supporting building processes, procedures, and workflows that enable sustainable business scaling.\nStrong collaboration skills with thought partners from clinical, operations, finance, and leadership\nProven ability to prioritize competing demands and make risk-proportionate decisions. \nMission-driven and passionate about improving outcomes for underserved communities\nBonus Points for any of the following:\nFamiliarity with value-based care contracts, capitation arrangements, or risk-bearing entities and their compliance implications.\nDirect experience in pre-litigation and litigation matters and managing outside counsel. \nHealthcare, privacy, or other relevant certification is a plus.\nOur Values\nLead with integrity: We keep our commitments and take responsibility for our actions.
