Palantir Technologies is an American software company founded in 2003 that builds platforms for integrating, analysing and acting on large and fragmented datasets. Its Gotham platform serves defence, intelligence and law enforcement customers, Foundry brings the same data-operating model to commercial industries such as manufacturing, healthcare and energy, and the Artificial Intelligence Platform layers large language models over both. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado and listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 2020, the company is known for deploying forward engineers directly inside customer organisations.

The Role

Palantir's legal team works closely with the business to proactively address legal issues so that Palantir can continue to drive positive impact across the world. Our US Government lawyers are the legal backbone of Palantir's federal government business and are motivated by our mission to serve government clients.

As go-to advisors on the contracts that enable Palantir to deploy state-of-the-art technology to solve real-world problems, our goal is to enable US government agency customers to unlock their data and power critical operations.

In this role, you will work on every issue Palantir faces in its US government business, including negotiating complex license and services agreements, responding to litigation and regulatory requests, providing strategic advice to business teams, and handling intellectual property, compliance, data privacy, and employment issues.

You'll be required to draw on strong communication and interpersonal skills to perform a variety of tasks, whether it's negotiating with a customer, advising business teams on product issues, or troubleshooting a draft proposal. You'll be expected to operate in demanding situations and take on novel, complex issues as they arise. This role requires attention to detail and the broad vision needed to bring large and multi-phase projects to completion.

Although this role is grounded in our US government business, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects that arise at our fast-paced, mission-oriented company and partner across legal and the wider business to address the complex issues that arise.

Core Responsibilities

  • Understand Palantir's relationship with its US government customers and provide advice and counsel in support of Palantir's business goals.
  • Draft and negotiate contracts and license agreements.
  • Advise on product development issues, compliance, intellectual property rights, data privacy, conflicts of interest, and more.
  • Develop and implement strategies to manage and resolve government inquiries. Exercise initiative and creativity in solving challenges.

What We Value

  • Passion for cutting-edge technology and working on complex challenges in the federal government space.
  • Experience with government contracting, software licensing, or regulatory compliance is a bonus.
  • Experience monitoring federal legislative and regulatory developments and advising internal stakeholders is a plus.
  • Prior experience in government with exposure to policy development, especially AI policy, or regulatory processes is a plus.
  • Strong preference for candidates based in DC or NY.
  • Active security clearance or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.

What We Require

  • J.D. degree, active bar license.
  • 3 to 10+ years of firm, in-house, or government experience (a combination is even better).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and commitment to working on a team rather than in a silo.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to propose creative solutions to novel issues.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to multitask and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment.
