Our focus is on capturing civilizational levels of ultra-low-cost renewable energy for applications including computing and affordable renewable fuels delivered to shore.\nThe company is a public benefit corporation headquartered in Portland, Oregon, and backed by leading venture capitalists, philanthropic investors, university endowments, and private investment offices. We operate as an idea meritocracy in which the best ideas change the company’s direction on a regular basis.\nOur staff have worked at organizations such as SpaceX, Blue Origin, Boeing, Tesla, Apple, Virgin Orbit, Astra, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, New Relic, Bridgewater, Raytheon, Disney Imagineering, and the US Army and Air Force, as well as research universities, startups, and small companies across a range of industries.\nAbout the Job\nOur core technology is the node, a device that produces energy in the ocean’s harshest conditions for years at a time without human maintenance or intervention.\nPanthalassa is expanding across multiple sites to support manufacturing, testing, R&D, and land-based compute. As new power arrives at each site, it has to be distributed safely and reliably, in a way that can keep growing without rework.\nAs our Senior Facilities Electrical Engineer, you will own the electrical distribution systems inside our facilities, from the main service switchgear to the loads it serves. You will be Panthalassa’s technical authority for how our buildings are powered: setting standards, reviewing designs, planning cutovers in operating facilities, tracking capacity, and keeping systems safe and reliable long after energization. You’ll work closely with our Senior Power Infrastructure Engineer, who brings new utility service to each site. You take it from there.\nThis role is about owning facility electrical systems over their lifetime, not installing individual tools or production equipment.\nCandidates should have strong interpersonal skills and be able to thrive in a creative, scrappy, and collaborative environment in which the best ideas change the company’s direction on a regular basis.\nResponsibilities\nOwn the electrical distribution systems at each site, including customer-owned medium-voltage equipment once energized, and serve as the owner’s technical authority for how they are designed, modified, and operated.\nTrack usable capacity across switchgear, transformers, feeders, and panels, and provide measured demand and capacity data to inform site-level power forecasts and upgrade plans.\nTranslate manufacturing, test, R&D, and compute needs into distribution plans and phased facility upgrades that scale without rework.\nSet owner-side design standards for distribution equipment, standby and backup power, labeling, documentation, and maintainability.\nLead technical review of designs, power system studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash), equipment selections, submittals, and field changes with engineers of record and contractors.\nCoordinate electrical design with cooling, controls, space planning, and operations, particularly for high-density compute and power-intensive test loads.\nPlan and lead shutdowns, cutovers, and energizations in occupied facilities with minimal disruption to operations.\nDiagnose power quality issues, failures, and reliability risks; set maintenance priorities by system criticality and plan for spares and replacements.\nOwn the electrical safety program, including energy control/LOTO, arc-flash labeling, and NFPA 70E practices, in partnership with EH&S and Site Operations.\nMaintain accurate single-line diagrams, panel schedules, equipment records, and capacity information across all sites.\nEvaluate the condition and capacity of electrical distribution during due diligence on prospective facilities.\nRequired Qualifications\nA degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience owning electrical systems in complex facilities.\nAt least five years of responsibility for electrical distribution systems in industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, data center, or similarly technical facilities.\nOwner-side, facility engineering, or engineer-of-record experience with a facility’s distribution system as a whole, not only individual equipment installations.\nExperience with low- and medium-voltage distribution, including transformers, switchgear, panelboards, and protective devices.\nExperience leading shutdowns, cutovers, or upgrades in operating facilities.\nAbility to develop and review single-line diagrams, panel schedules, electrical drawings, and power system studies.\nWorking knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA electrical safety requirements.\nExperience directing external designers and contractors through design, installation, and commissioning.\nDesired Qualifications\nExperience with standby generation, UPS, or energy storage systems.\nExperience with data center, high-density compute, or power-intensive test facilities.\nExperience building or running arc-flash and electrical maintenance programs (NFPA 70E/70B).\nExperience owning electrical systems across multiple sites.\nProfessional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training certification.\nThe above qualifications are desired, not required. We encourage you to apply if you are a strong candidate with only some of the desired skills and experience listed.\nAdditional Requirements\nTravel to vendors and test sites as needed\nIntermittently able to work longer hours and weekends to support critical needs. While we expect a lot of each other, we also offer a high degree of autonomy and work-life balance, including flexible PTO and flexible working hours.\nCompensation and Benefits\nIf hired for this full-time role, you will receive:\nCash compensation of $160,000 - $210,000.\nEquity in the company. We’re all owners and if we’re successful, this equity should be far and away the most valuable component of your compensation.\nA benefits package that helps you take care of yourself and your family, including:Flexible paid time off\nHealth insurance (the company pays 100% of gold-level PPO plan for full-time employees, their partners, and dependents)\nDental insurance (the company pays 100% for full-time employees, their partners, and dependents)\nVision insurance (the company pays 100% for full-time employees, their partners, and dependents)\nDisability insurance (the company pays 100% for a policy to provide long-term financial support if you become disabled)\nAbility to contribute to tax-advantaged accounts, including 401(k), health FSA, and dependent care FSA\n\nRelocation assistance to facilitate your move to Portland (if needed).\nLocation\nThis is an on-site position. Our offices, lab, and shop are located in Portland, Oregon.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6934,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Dental insurance","Equity","Flexible schedule","Health insurance","Relocation assistance","Vision insurance"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":true,"industries":["Data Centers & Colocation","Marine & Ocean Engineering","AI Compute & Inference"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-22T01:38:06Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":4,"expected_fill_days":74,"reasons":["conf:2","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-26T05:57:25Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":210000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/panthalassa-senior-facilities-electrical-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/panthalassa-senior-facilities-electrical-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-26T22:46:53Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":30885,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-27T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":10611},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=10611"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fpanthalassa-senior-facilities-electrical-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fpanthalassa-senior-facilities-electrical-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fpanthalassa-senior-facilities-electrical-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/panthalassa-senior-facilities-electrical-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fpanthalassa-senior-facilities-electrical-engineer"}]}
