From rockets to medical devices, we power the parts that move the world forward.\nThis position requires activities that are subject to US Export Control Laws and require US Citizenship or Green Card Holder.\nThe Opportunity\nPaperless Parts is looking for a Platform Engineer II to join Bedrock, the platform engineering team that builds and runs the infrastructure behind our SaaS platform for manufacturing shops. You will own the delivery of well-scoped infrastructure projects and system components end to end, helping manage cloud resources as code and improving how our engineering teams build, test, and ship software.\nThis mid-level role is the perfect foundation for growth toward a Senior Platform Engineer, allowing you to take on real ownership of production infrastructure. You will participate fully in team operations, help onboard newer engineers, and shape how AI-assisted tooling accelerates our software development lifecycle.\nWhat Success Looks Like (First 6-12 Months)\n Independent Ownership: Within your first 90 days you've shipped an infrastructure change through the full path - module, plan review, apply, monitoring - and by six months you own a Bedrock component (a Redstone stack, a pipeline family, or a tooling area) that teammates come to you about.\nTerragrunt Modules Contributed: You've authored or refactored reusable OpenTofu/Terragrunt modules that pass review, follow the team's conventions, and are adopted in stacks beyond the one you built them for.\nPipelines Measurably Better: Something a product engineering team can name got easier because of your Jenkins work - faster builds or deploys, fewer flaky failures, or quicker recovery - and you can show the before and after.\nTrusted On-Call: You're a full member of the rotation, your incident handoffs are clear, and the follow-ups you own land as durable fixes with written learnings rather than repeat pages.\nLifting Newer Engineers: Your reviews and docs are good enough that a newer engineer or co-op has learned part of the platform from them, and you've paired with or onboarded at least one.\nKey Responsibilities\n Infrastructure as Code: Design, build, and maintain production cloud resources on AWS (EC2, ECS, S3, IAM) using OpenTofu and Terragrunt.\nPipeline Management: Own and improve Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, making it easier and faster for product engineering teams to deploy.\nAutomation Development: Develop internal developer tooling and automation scripts in Python to replace manual operational tasks.\nObservability & Monitoring: Extend Datadog dashboards and monitors to track key service health and ensure alerts are actionable.\nContainer Operations: Work with Docker containerization to build, maintain, and run images and services.\nTeam Collaboration: Participate in sprint ceremonies, conduct constructive code reviews, handle on-call rotations, and help onboard newer engineers.\nQualifications & Experience\nCore Requirements\n Cloud Infrastructure: Hands-on experience managing production cloud infrastructure on AWS (compute, networking, IAM, storage).\nAutomation Scripting: Proficiency in Python or Bash with the ability to write clear, tested, and maintainable automation tooling.\nInfrastructure as Code: Demonstrated capability working with infrastructure as code using Terraform or OpenTofu.\nLinux & Containers: Solid Linux/Unix fundamentals and hands-on experience building, running, and troubleshooting Docker images and containerized services.\nCI/CD Pipelines: Experience building or maintaining continuous integration and deployment pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.\nLocation: Willingness to work in a hybrid environment in Boston, MA.\nPreferred Qualifications\nAdvanced IaC & Containers: Experience with Terragrunt and solid fundamentals working with Kubernetes containers in a Linux/Unix environment.\nRegulated Environments: AWS GovCloud, FedRAMP, or SOC 2 exposure.\nAI-Assisted Engineering: Regular use of AI coding assistants in infrastructure work, with judgment about when to trust the output.\nDeveloper Experience Tooling: Internal tools or self-service workflows adopted by other engineering teams.\nSalary range: $124,000 - $168,000\nThe job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.\nPaperless Parts Life\nCulture: At Paperless Parts, we value intentionality, persistence and relationships. We live and breathe these values every day. As a fast-growing company, we’re continually improving what we’ve built while still building from the ground up. \nBoston Office: Our office is full of energy; people regularly collaborate to solve complex problems. We recognize that people work well in different environments and have intentionally designed our office to provide collaborative spaces and quiet focus areas. Our height-adjustable desks are set up with additional monitors, and employees are provided with the latest Apple technology to support productivity. \nOur headquarters is located in downtown Boston, MA and easily accessible to most transit routes (Red/Blue/Orange/Green Line/South Station/North Station).\nEncinitas Office: Our California office is our newest office which seats our West Coast sales team. The office has an open floor plan with several conference rooms to encourage collaboration with your colleagues in California and TV's to connect with those sitting in Boston or remotely. The office is walking distance from Downtown Encinitas, the Coaster train stop, and tons of activities on the 101.\nBenefits: We value you and your family. With this in mind, full-time employees are provided:\n100% coverage of health, dental, and vision for you and your dependent\n\nCompetitive compensation philosophy\n\nUnlimited PTO\n\n13+ paid holidays\n\nCompany-sponsored wellness stipend\n\nPre-tax Commuter and FSA/Dependent Care FSA\n\n401(k) plan\n\nEmployee recognition program\n\nResponsible for adherence to all security and privacy requirements, rules and regulations and implement as required.\nPaperless Parts is committed to cultivating an equitable, inclusive, and supportive environment for all employees.
