The successful candidate should be a problem solver experienced in mechanical maintenance of manufacturing equipment. He/she should possess the ability to conduct preventive and predictive maintenance procedures, troubleshoot equipment failures, complete production machine set-ups and change-overs, and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.Job Description\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nDiagnose plant equipment problems.\n\nImplement equipment modifications and/or replacements.\nPerform predictive and preventive maintenance procedures.\nConduct routine repairs to mechanical equipment in accordance with all plant work instructions and safety procedures.\nConduct safety observations as needed.\nMaintain equipment in area of responsibility.\nConduct inspections of mechanical equipment.\nConduct piping repairs to process and utility systems.\nConduct measurements and inspections using calibrated test equipment.\nConduct routine installations of new piping systems utilizing carbon steel, stainless steel, lined pipe, etc.\nConduct routine installations of sanitary piping systems.\nConduct routine pipe repairs and modifications to piping systems.\nConduct inspections and repairs of heat exchangers, dryers, and process vessels.\nConduct troubleshooting of hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission systems.\nComplete pre-task analyses for his/her maintenance activities.\nComplete production machine set-ups and change-overs.\nOther duties as assigned.\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:\nEducation:\nJourneyman Pipefitter or an Associates Degree in Applied Science or equivalent certification program from a technical school with an emphasis in Pipefitting and/or equipment mechanics. Equivalent relevant years of experience in these fields of study will also be considered.\nExperience:\nMinimum of five to seven years experience as a Maintenance Pipefitter in a manufacturing facility; experience in an FDA controlled industry is preferred.\nExperience with mechanical equipment repair is essential.\nSkills/Competencies:\nKnowledge of cGMP Guidelines and Mechanical Piping Specifications is a plus. Welding capability is a plus.\nFamiliarity with and full adherence to cGMP, OSHA, FED regulations required.\nMust be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted on a regular basis.\nMust be able to stand and walk for long periods of time while working.\nFor certain positions, employees must be able to wear a respirator.\nExtensive training will be required in order to meet all regulatory, safety and security requirements.\nMust be willing to work a rotating shift schedule including nights and weekends. \nWORKING CONDITIONS: \nThe Maintenance Pipefitter will work primarily in a manufacturing environment with the possibility of a rotating shift schedule. Manufacturing areas are not climate controlled. During summer months, building exhaust fans provide ventilation. Chemicals handled include acids and bases, organic solvents, and inorganic compounds. Chemicals may have characteristic odors or hazardous properties that require special handling. Office and Manufacturing environment may require use of personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses and work boots.
