Paradromics is building a brain-computer interface (BCI) platform that records brain activity at the highest possible resolution: the individual neuron. AI algorithms then decode this massive amount of brain-data, enabling the seamless translation of thought into treatments.\nOur first clinical application, the Connexus® BCI, will help people who are unable to speak, due to ALS, spinal cord injuries and stroke, to communicate independently through digital devices. However, the capabilities of our BCI platform go far beyond our first application. With the brain in direct communication with digital devices, we can leverage technology to transform how we treat conditions ranging from sensory and motor deficits to untreatable mental illness.\nThe Role\nParadromics is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Product Development team in Austin, TX. In this role, you will provide dedicated mechanical design support across product development, engineering, testing, and manufacturing activities. You will design tooling, fixtures, mechanical components, and assemblies using SolidWorks, taking projects from initial concepts through detailed CAD, engineering drawings, fabrication, and implementation.\nThis role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented engineer who enjoys solving practical mechanical problems and turning ideas into functional hardware. You will work closely with engineers, technicians, manufacturing teams, and external suppliers to develop reliable, manufacturable solutions that support our product development efforts. You will also help build internal mechanical design capabilities, increase engineering throughput, and reduce reliance on limited external design resources.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and develop mechanical components, assemblies, tooling, and fixtures to support product development, testing, manufacturing, and general engineering activities.\nOwn mechanical design projects from initial requirements and concept development through detailed CAD modeling, drawing release, fabrication, and physical implementation.\nCreate and maintain accurate SolidWorks models, assemblies, and engineering drawings, applying appropriate tolerancing, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) principles.\nTranslate engineering requirements and open-ended technical problems into practical mechanical designs that meet functional, dimensional, and manufacturing requirements.\nCollaborate with engineers, technicians, machinists, fabricators, manufacturers, and suppliers to select appropriate materials and fabrication methods and ensure designs can be manufactured and implemented successfully.\nDesign fixtures and tooling for assembly, testing, inspection, and other engineering workflows, improving repeatability and efficiency across development and manufacturing activities.\nEvaluate prototypes and fabricated parts, identify design issues, and iterate on mechanical solutions based on testing, fit checks, and stakeholder feedback.\nManage multiple design projects and competing priorities while delivering high-quality designs and documentation on schedule.\nBuild and maintain knowledge of existing mechanical designs, tooling, fixtures, and assemblies to improve continuity and establish sustainable internal mechanical design capabilities.\nSupport continuous improvement of mechanical design practices, documentation, and workflows across the Product Development team.\nRequired Education\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline; equivalent practical experience may also be considered.\nRequired Qualifications\n2-6 years of professional mechanical design experience, with strong proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD software.\nDemonstrated experience with complex part modeling, assemblies, engineering drawings, and iterative mechanical design.\nExperience designing mechanical components, assemblies, tooling, or fixtures based on engineering requirements or open-ended technical problems.\nStrong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, including dimensional tolerances, fits, fasteners, materials, mechanisms, and design for manufacturability.\nExperience creating and interpreting engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).\nDemonstrated ability to take designs from CAD through fabrication and physical implementation, incorporating feedback from machinists, fabricators, manufacturers, or suppliers.\nAbility to independently own mechanical design projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver accurate, manufacturable designs on schedule.\nExceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain organized, accurate CAD models and engineering documentation.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, technician, and supplier teams.\nA practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving and a willingness to iterate on designs to achieve functional and manufacturable solutions.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with mechanical design for medical devices or other complex hardware products.\nExperience working in a regulated industry, particularly within an ISO 13485 quality management system.\nExperience designing tooling, fixtures, and test equipment for medical device development or manufacturing.\nHands-on familiarity with fabrication methods such as CNC machining, 3D printing, injection molding, laser processing, or sheet metal fabrication.\nExperience designing fixtures for assembly, testing, inspection, and manufacturing processes.\nExperience working directly with machine shops, contract manufacturers, and external suppliers to fabricate and refine mechanical designs.\nExperience with rapid prototyping, iterative hardware development, and hands-on evaluation of fabricated parts.\nExperience working with active implantable medical devices or other highly regulated hardware systems.\nParadromics is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6403,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":2,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Neurotech & Neuromodulation"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-13T20:27:04Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"US","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"H-1B filings in 12 months: 3 · green card filings: 2","filings_12m":3,"filings_prev_12m":1,"green_card_filings_12m":2,"median_offered_wage_usd":99500,"route":null,"cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-15T11:24:14+00:00","sources":["US Department of Labor: LCA disclosure data (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3)","US Department of Labor: PERM disclosure data (green cards)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":3,"expected_fill_days":28,"reasons":["conf:0","win:early","comp:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-17T05:46:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/paradromics-mechanical-design-engineer-paradromics-inc-","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/paradromics-mechanical-design-engineer-paradromics-inc-.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-19T00:43:33Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":241,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-20T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":63209},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=63209"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fparadromics-mechanical-design-engineer-paradromics-inc-"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fparadromics-mechanical-design-engineer-paradromics-inc-"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fparadromics-mechanical-design-engineer-paradromics-inc-"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/paradromics-mechanical-design-engineer-paradromics-inc-\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fparadromics-mechanical-design-engineer-paradromics-inc-"}]}
