We're building the alternative: human-first drug discovery, powered by organoids and AI, running on real human biology from the very first experiment.\nOur platform is 87% concordant with clinical patient data - a vast improvement over the 3% translational success rate of animals. We’ve demonstrated the ability to model immunotoxicology, immunogen stimulation, and two autoimmune diseases with more on the way. Numerous pharma partners including 3 Fortune 500 companies are already using the platform. We've raised ~$30M from AIX Ventures, Marc Benioff, Jeff Dean, and Y Combinator. With the FDA Modernization Act 3.0 and the FDA's March 2026 validation framework, the regulatory tailwinds only continue to get stronger.\nThe opportunity ahead of the company is generational: build the first scaled engine for generating real human biological data, and use it to fundamentally change how medicines are discovered.\nThe role\nNote to candidates: this describes a strong profile, not a checklist. If you don't match every point but believe you'd do this job well, please apply.\nWe are hiring a Scientist I to run the hands-on cell and tissue culture work that every Parallel Bio program depends on. You will process human tissue, build and maintain cell banks, run immunological assays, and turn what works at the bench into robust, documented processes.\nThis role is shared between Technical Operations and Science. You will split time between executing partner studies and strengthening the systems behind them: SOPs, cell inventory, and process consistency. It suits a scientist who likes the bench and has a high standard for technical accuracy, precision, and data quality.\nWhy join Parallel Bio\nHuman-relevant immunology: your work generates human immune data that shapes real drug development decisions\n\nEarly-team impact: the processes you build become how the company runs as it scales\n\nPartner-facing science: work directly on studies for biopharma partners\n\nRoom to grow: scope expands as you take on ownership, toward Scientist II and process leadership\n\nWhat you'll do\nTissue processing and cell culture\nProcess human lymphoid tissue and primary cells into single-cell suspensions and organoid cultures\n\nApply donor acceptance criteria and track donor metadata to manage donor-to-donor variability\n\nOptimize and troubleshoot scientific protocols as needed in a data-driven manner\n\nExecute partner study protocols on schedule under aseptic technique\n\nCell banking and cryopreservation\nCryopreserve, thaw, and recover primary human cells with consistent viability and yield\n\nExecute cell banking runs with full chain of custody from donor to vial\n\nMaintain the LN2 inventory: storage, sample tracking, and reconciliation\n\nAssays and immune readouts\nIndependently execute flow cytometry for immunophenotyping and study endpoint measurements\n\nIndependently execute un functional assays (e.g., ELISA, MSD, ELISpot, cytotoxicity), plus imaging or qPCR as programs require\n\nAnalyze data (FlowJo, Prism, or equivalent) and contribute to study summaries for partners. Clearly communicate data and findings to stakeholders.\n\nProcess, documentation, and lab operations\nDraft and revise SOPs, and help train new team members on them\n\nSupport the move from research-grade documentation toward GLP-like rigor\n\nMaintain core equipment and reagent inventory, and support EH&S programs\n\nWhat you'll bring\nPhD in immunology, cell biology, bioengineering, or a related field with 0-2 years of postdoctoral or industry experience; an MS with 5+ years of relevant industry experience; or a BS with 8+ years of relevant industry experience\n\nHands-on proficiency in primary human cell or tissue culture under strict aseptic technique\n\nHands-on proficiency in cryopreservation: freezing, thawing, and tracking cell stocks\n\nHands-on proficiency in flow cytometry, plus at least one other immune assay method (e.g., ELISA, MSD, ELISpot, Luminex)\n\nStrong documentation habits grounded in data integrity (ALCOA+) principles: detailed electronic notebook entries, clear protocols, and records someone else can follow\n\nCollaboration across two teams and shifting between study execution and process work\n\nHigh standards for data quality and data integrity, and ability to apply scientific rigor to day-to-day operations\n\nStrong written and verbal skills, critical thinking and rational experimental design capabilities, and clear data presentation skills.\n\nNice to have\nSecondary lymphoid organ biology, organoid, or 3D culture experience\n\nFormal cell banking (MCB/WCB) with release testing such as sterility, mycoplasma, and identity\n\nSpectral or high-parameter flow cytometry (15+ colors)\n\niPSC culture or stem cell-derived immune models\n\nPlate-based, higher-throughput workflows or liquid handling automation\n\nSOP authoring in a GLP- or GMP-aware environment\n\nWhat success looks like\nBy 6 months: Independently running tissue processing, banking, and core assays for partner studies\n\nBy 12 months: Trusted to run the cell bank and inventory day to day, with several SOPs you drafted in active use\n\nLab safety and physical requirements\nCandidates must be able to meet the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:\nAbility to wear a tight-fitting respirator (e.g., N95 or half-face air-purifying respirator) when tasks require it. This includes medical clearance and an annual fit test.\n\nWork with human-derived tissue and cells at BSL-2, including bloodborne pathogen training; Hepatitis B vaccination is offered\n\nAbility to stand at the bench or biosafety cabinet for extended periods, and lift up to 25 lb (e.g., media cases and supplies)\n\nLocation and details\nLocation: Brisbane, CA; fully onsite, with occasional weekend work for tissue arrivals and culture maintenance\n\nCompensation: $125k-140k USD base salary, plus equity\n\nBenefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k); paid time off\n\nParallel Bio is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, or sexual orientation.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6269,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":8,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"phd","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Biotechnology"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-13T15:25:57Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":7,"expected_fill_days":31,"reasons":["conf:3","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-14T06:34:16Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":140000,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/parallel-biosystems-scientist-cell-tissue-operations","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/parallel-biosystems-scientist-cell-tissue-operations.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-14T12:41:57Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"assistant_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":2304,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-15T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":2230112},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=2230112"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fparallel-biosystems-scientist-cell-tissue-operations"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fparallel-biosystems-scientist-cell-tissue-operations"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fparallel-biosystems-scientist-cell-tissue-operations"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/parallel-biosystems-scientist-cell-tissue-operations\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fparallel-biosystems-scientist-cell-tissue-operations"}]}
