Come help us build it!\nThe role\nAs our Engineering Lead for the US market, you will own Parallel's technical roadmap for the US and be the first engineering leader in our New York office. You will make our product work for US hospitals, ship it into our first pilots, and build the New York engineering team around you.\nParallel uses AI to take administrative work off hospital teams, starting with inpatient coding. Our agents read the full patient record before billing, find what was documented but not coded, and coders validate every suggestion. We work with around 100 hospitals and clinics in France and are launching in the US in 2027.\nReports to: Chris Rydhal, CTO and co-founder. You work every day with Paul Lafforgue, CEO and co-founder, who leads the US launch, and with our Head of Coding, US.\n\nLocation: New York. Regular trips to pilot hospitals, plus 2 to 4 weeks of onboarding in Paris.\n\nTeam: a Forward Deployed Engineer and an AI engineer joining from Paris in 2027, then the engineers you hire as we grow.\n\nYour mission for 2027: make our product ready for US hospitals, live in our first pilots, and build an engineering team in New York that strong engineers want to join.\nWhat you will own\nThe US technical roadmap\nDecide what we build for the US, in what order, and with whom, in line with Paris.\n\nOur core engine and architecture stay shared with Paris: you own the US layer on top of it.\n\nThe US pack of our engine\nWith our Head of Coding and AI engineers, adapt the engine to US coding (ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG, APR-DRG), build the US test sets and measure accuracy.\n\nUS integrations and data\nGet our agents running on US EHRs (Meditech, Oracle Health, Altera) through ScreenFlow, our computer-use technology.\n\nHandle US data formats: 837I claims, HL7, C-CDA.\n\nUS infrastructure and security\nSet up and run our US environment: hosting, access controls, logging, HIPAA technical safeguards, the technical side of SOC 2.\n\nLead the security reviews with hospital IT teams.\n\nPilots\nWith our Forward Deployed Engineer, deploy Parallel at our first US pilot hospitals and keep it running.\n\nThe New York team\nHire and lead our New York engineers, and set the bar, the pace and the culture of the office.\n\nWho you are\nExperience\n4 to 8 years in software engineering, including at least 2 years leading a small team or as tech lead.\n\nHands-on: you still read and write code, and you get into the codebase when something needs unblocking.\n\nYou have shipped a product that handles US patient data: HIPAA, BAAs, security reviews with hospital IT.\n\nYou have built EHR integrations (HL7, FHIR), ideally on Meditech, Oracle Health (Cerner) or Altera.\n\nLLMs or ML in production are a plus.\n\nMindset\nBuilder: you have taken something from zero to real and want to do it again.\n\nOwner: you care about the product outcome, not just the engineering process.\n\nBridge builder: you work well with a team in Paris, 6 hours ahead, and keep one product, not two.\n\nLow ego, hands-on: you take on whatever the US launch needs.\n\nOur values\nPlay to Win: we want to win.
