IT Infrastructure Engineer

£42,000 - £47,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6A)

Full time 37.5 hours per week, covering a variety of shifts between 8am and 5pm, and working approximately 1 in 4 Saturdays.

Location: Scunthorpe DN15 9GE - You'll work in a hybrid way, with regular travel to our Scunthorpe site, typically around once a week, as well as occasional visits to locations across our network (find out more about our hybrid working policy at https://jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

You'll also take part in a 24/7 on-call rota (approximately 1 week in 4), providing support for critical incidents when needed. When on call, you'll need to be able to attend the Scunthorpe site within 30 minutes if required.

We're looking for IT Infrastructure Engineers to join our Wholesale Technology team and help us deliver reliable, secure and high-performing technology services across our head office and logistics network. In this role, you'll provide expert technical support across a diverse infrastructure estate, supporting everything from servers, networks and cloud technologies to security systems and operational technology. Working closely with colleagues across Technology and the wider business, you'll help keep critical services running smoothly while contributing to infrastructure improvements and future technology developments.

You'll have the chance to apply and develop your expertise across networking, virtualisation, cloud technologies, security and server infrastructure while making a direct impact on business performance.

What you’ll do

• Act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure and networking issues, working closely with our Service Desk to resolve incidents and problems
• Troubleshoot, investigate and resolve issues across server, network, cloud and security technologies
• Support the delivery, maintenance and continuous improvement of infrastructure services across our offices, depots and logistics sites
• Configure, administer and support server, virtualisation and networking environments, ensuring systems remain secure, reliable and available
• Work with third-party suppliers and technology partners to support service delivery and infrastructure improvements
• Contribute to infrastructure projects, helping to implement new technologies and enhance existing services
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery activities, including backup management, testing and recovery processes
• Participate in the 24/7 on-call rota and provide out-of-hours support when required, including responding to critical incidents

What you’ll bring

• Experience supporting and maintaining enterprise infrastructure environments across networking, server, cloud and end-user technologies
• A solid understanding of networking principles and infrastructure, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
• Experience working with virtualised environments and core Microsoft technologies
• An appreciation of cybersecurity best practices and experience supporting secure, resilient technology services
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to investigating and resolving issues
• The ability to communicate technical information clearly and build effective working relationships with both technical and non-technical colleagues
• A flexible approach, with the ability to participate in an on-call support rota
• A full UK driving licence, with the ability to travel occasionally to sites across the UK and attend our Scunthorpe office when required to support major incidents
