The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, a passion for data-driven decision-making, and expertise in Microsoft Azure data services using Databricks.\nSummary/Objective\nThis role is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and optimization of the organization's enterprise data infrastructure. The Senior Data Engineer serves as a technical leader in building scalable data solutions that support business intelligence, analytics, reporting, artificial intelligence, data governance, and strategic decision-making across a multi-location funeral home, cemetery, cremation, and corporate services organization.\nEssential Functions\nData Architecture and Design\n· Designs, develops, and maintains scalable data pipelines and architectures using Azure data services.\n· Collaborates with data scientists, analysts, developers and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.\n· Ensures data integrity, quality, and security across all Azure data systems.\nData Integration and ETL\n· Develops and manages ETL processes to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into Azure data warehouses and data lakes.\n· Optimizes data workflows for performance and reliability using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and other Azure tools.\nDatabase Management\n· Administers and maintains Azure and on-prem Postgres databases, Azure SQL Database, Mongo DB, Cosmos DB, and other Azure data storage solutions.\n· Implements data storage solutions that support efficient querying and analysis.\nData Governance and Compliance\n· Establishes and enforces data governance policies and best practices.\n· Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards.\nPerformance Turning and Optimization\n· Monitors and optimize Azure data systems for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.\n· Troubleshoots and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner.\nCollaboration and Mentorship\n· Works closely with cross-functional teams to support data-driven initiatives.\n· Mentors and guides junior data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.\nInnovation and Continuous Improvement\n· Stays up to date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering.\n· Proposes and implements innovative solutions to enhance data infrastructure and processes.\n· Performs other duties as assigned.\nCompetencies\n· Data Engineering and Architecture.\n· Detail Orientation.\n· Project Management.\n· Ethical Conduct.\n· Communication Proficiency.\n· Personal Effectiveness/Credibility.\n· Customer Service Orientation.\n· Time Management.\nRequired Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure\n· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field required.\n· Minimum of 7 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, business intelligence, or related technical roles.\nPreferred Education, Experience, Certifications and Licensure\n· Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or related field.\n· Experience supporting multi-location organizations.\n· Experience in funeral and cemetery industry, healthcare, consumer services, retail, financial services, or other distributed operational businesses.\nAdditional Eligibility Qualifications\n· Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
