Work with spatial professionals to develop innovative solutions, strengthen geospatial capability and support informed decision-making.\n\nWork with spatial professionals using leading geospatial technology\n\nUse your GIS expertise to support the management of Victoria's parks\n\nDeliver core enterprise spatial services across Parks Victoria\n\nThis is a Grade 5 fixed-term position until 29 October 2027.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nAs the Spatial Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering, optimising and continuously improving Parks Victoria's enterprise spatial services. You will apply advanced technical expertise across the collection, management, analysis and visualisation of spatial data to support operational delivery, environmental management, planning and strategic initiatives. \n\nWorking across enterprise GIS platforms and spatial systems, you will help design and implement fit-for-purpose spatial solutions while maintaining data integrity, system reliability and alignment with Parks Victoria's digital strategy and Victorian Government ICT standards. \n\nYou will undertake complex spatial analysis, manage enterprise spatial datasets and databases, develop maps, dashboards and analytical products, and configure and optimise platforms including ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, web mapping platforms, FME and mobile GIS applications. \n\nWorking with a degree of autonomy, you will provide authoritative technical advice, lead technical components of spatial projects and identify improvements that enhance Parks Victoria's geospatial capability and decision-making. \n\nAbout the Team\n\nYou will join a technically focused Spatial Services team within Parks Victoria's Information Technology Directorate. The broader directorate provides technology solutions, services and support across the organisation and oversees enterprise architecture, information management, security capabilities and external vendors. \n\nThe hiring manager describes the Spatial Team as collaborative and supportive, using leading technology to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.\n\nIn this role, you will:\n\nManage, validate, integrate and maintain enterprise spatial datasets.\n\nUndertake complex spatial analysis to support operational and environmental outcomes.\n\nConfigure and optimise enterprise GIS platforms and applications.\n\nDevelop maps, dashboards, reports and other spatial analytical products.\n\nTroubleshoot complex technical issues and improve system performance and reliability.\n\nProvide specialist spatial advice to projects and operational initiatives.\n\nResearch emerging spatial technologies and identify opportunities for improvement.\n\nSupport and mentor colleagues while contributing to spatial capability across the organisation.\n\nWe're Looking for Someone With:\n\nTertiary qualifications in Geospatial Sciences, GIS or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.\n\nExperience delivering enterprise-level GIS solutions using ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, web mapping systems, mobile GIS applications and spatial ETL tools such as FME.\n\nAdvanced expertise in spatial data management, analysis and system configuration.\n\nSpecialist knowledge of enterprise spatial systems and databases.\n\nA strong understanding of GIS architecture, enterprise integration and spatial database management.\n\nThe ability to diagnose complex technical issues and design effective, scalable solutions.\n\nExperience working within complex operational or government environments and an understanding of governance and compliance requirements.\n\nThe ability to provide technical guidance and influence spatial decision-making across multidisciplinary environments.\n\nExperience leading technical components of projects and initiatives.\n\nExcellent communication skills, including the ability to translate technical spatial information for non-technical stakeholders.\n\nDemonstrated ability to build effective relationships with internal teams, vendors and external partners.\n\nThe ability to manage multiple concurrent spatial initiatives to agreed time, quality and scope.\n\nKnowledge of ITIL/ITSM practices and Agile delivery methodologies is desirable. \n\nYour Application Will Need to Include:\n\nA current Resume\n\nA Cover Letter\n\nApplication close date: Wednesday 28th of October 2026\n\nHow to Apply \n\nIf you require further information about the position, please contact Shannon Browne on [email protected] or apply online!\n\nTo be eligible for employment at Parks Victoria you must be legally entitled to work in Australia. \n\nParks Victoria is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
