In this role you will get to lead the Transportation Engineering team in the DC area.\nPurpose of the role: \nThe selected candidate will be accountable for supporting business strategy, growth, profit and loss performance, talent management, and oversight of the operations, including directing and managing large/complex projects. Candidate must be an effective \"seller/doer\", able to balance operational management, business development, and project management responsibilities. Willingness to occasionally travel to various offices and to client or project site locations is expected. The selected candidate will work with business and technical leadership to continue technical and management excellence while growing a successful and sustainable business practice that fosters a challenging and fun workplace.\nDrive Executional Excellence:\nImplement Safety policies and training.\nGuide and oversee the preparation of proposals and client presentations for pursuits.\nWin and manage complex civil and structural projects aligned with area strategy.\nImplement quality policies and procedures and pursue continuous improvement through innovation and creative thinking.\nManage and direct every phase of significant projects or programs to ensure on-schedule completion within or below budget and in accordance with contractual obligations.\nPromote technical and commercial excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes.\nEstablish and maintain cooperative and productive work relationships with all employees, clients, and stakeholders.\nWork with the Technical Organization leaders to properly staff projects for success.\nComplete project reviews in accordance with company policies.\nEnsure that accurate business reports are prepared as scheduled.\nDrive a High-Performance Culture:\nRecruit, develop, and retain top industry talent.\nDrive collaborative behavior with other offices and teams.\nRegularly appraise management team including compensation changes as appropriate.\nPromote learning opportunities for the staff.\nSupport and maintain an organizational structure that is streamlined, efficient and effective.\nProvide Strategic and Operational Direction:\nCollaborate with the Area Manager to support annual strategic initiatives\nWork with the relevant Business Development Manager/Team to develop a business plan aligned with the objectives of the Area.\nDefine office-based operational and financial goals overall and for individual direct reports.\nEstablish clear plan(s) to achieve goals by identifying and prioritizing clients and prospects.\nImplement and reinforce operational policies and procedures.\nReview, evaluate, and approve requests including contracts, appropriations, and expenditure within authority, escalate others as appropriate.\nManage Office and Project-Base P&L for Profitable Growth:\nWork with the Project Managers to optimize billing cycle and cash flow.\nCollaborate with the relevant Business Development Manager/Team to implement a growth agenda and be accountable for commercial success.\nMeasure financial success against established objectives and ensure corrective action as needed.\nClient Engagement and Relationship Development for Growth:\nIdentify, develop, and maintain key accounts.\nEnhance Parsons' profile and reach across the industry through participation in professional and industry organizations and attending related events.\nMaintain strong relations with local clients.\nSupport contractor relationships regarding APD prospects and pursuits.\nLeadership and Functional Management:\nDrives growth while managing efficiency in short and long term.\nManages large, diverse teams and builds consensus between technical disciplines.\nServes as a strong leader, fostering a culture of accountability, rewards, and consequences.\nAchieves maximum productivity by implementing best practices for utilizing communication technology, automation, and various software applications.\nDemonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make effective presentations to senior management and clients.\nPossesses experience managing/overseeing large ($500M+ construction value) bridge or highway projects/programs.\nSupports the overall success of the company by being a strong collaborator with other business units and geographies\nConsistently exercises and demonstrates a sound Business Acumen.\nPossesses a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering and 20+ years of diverse experience.
