Parsons is seeking a Junior Linux Systems Engineer to support Linux-based workstations and servers in both physical and virtual environments. In this role, you’ll perform basic system checks, assist with workstation imaging and deployment, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide in-person support to end users.\nThis position requires a motivated team player who can learn quickly, communicate effectively, and approach technical challenges with curiosity and professionalism. If you’re ready to grow your skills and contribute to a mission-focused team, we’d love to hear from you!\nWhat You'll Be Doing:\nAs a Junior Linux Systems Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:\nUser Support: Provide in-person assistance to end users with basic hardware, software, login, and connectivity issues.\nWorkstation Imaging: Image, configure, and deploy Linux and Windows workstations in accordance with established procedures.\nIssue Resolution:\nTroubleshoot and resolve basic workstation, peripheral, operating system, and application issues, escalating complex problems as needed.\nUser Onboarding: Assist with new user account setup, workstation configuration, equipment assignment, and initial technical support.\nSystem Checks: Perform routine checks of Linux workstations, servers, and related systems and report abnormal conditions.\nLinux Support: Assist with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Linux operating systems.Equipment Installation: Install, configure, label, and maintain workstations, servers, peripherals, and network equipment\nHelpDesk Support: Respond to user requests and service tickets while maintaining clear and accurate ticket documentation.Documentation: Create and update technical procedures, troubleshooting guides, equipment records, and system documentation.Team Collaboration: \nWork with senior systems engineers and administrators to support system upgrades, maintenance activities, and infrastructure improvements.After-Hours Support: Occasionally assist with scheduled system maintenance, upgrades, or other after-hours activities.\nWhat Required Skills You bring:\nBasic knowledge of Linux operating systems, including command-line navigation, file permissions, user accounts, and troubleshooting.\nBachelors Degree\nExperience providing technical support to end users in person or through a HelpDesk environment.Ability to image, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop computers.\nUnderstanding of basic networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and connectivity troubleshooting.\nStrong communication, customer service, organization, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work effectively as part of a team and follow established technical procedures.\nAbility to obtain a US government clearance which requires US citizenship\nWhat Desired Skills You'll Bring:\nLinux Administration: Familiarity with Linux distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, or CentOS.Imaging and Deployment: Experience with workstation imaging, configuration management, or software deployment tools.\nVirtualization: Exposure to virtual machines and virtualization technologies.\nAutomation Tools: Familiarity with scripting or automation tools such as Bash, Python, Ansible, or PowerShell.Atlassian \nSoftware: Familiarity with tools such as Confluence and JIRA.Identity Management: Basic understanding of LDAP, Active Directory, or FreeIPA.Networking: \nFamiliarity with network hardware, cabling, switches, firewalls, or basic network monitoring.\nHardware Support: Experience installing, replacing, and troubleshooting computer components, peripherals, and server equipment\nSecurity Clearance Requirement:\nNoneThis position is part of our Federal Solutions team.The Federal Solutions segment delivers resources to our US government customers that ensure the success of missions around the globe.
