Unleash your talent and redefine what’s possible. Job Description:\nParsons is looking to hire a full-time dedicated Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead Infrastructure projects engineering work. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is broadly responsible for establishing system requirements, performing functional analyses, and preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets, and reports while mentoring and leading junior engineers to meet our clients’ needs. Senior Mechanical Engineers are also responsible for providing regular input into the progressive elaboration of 3D models and 2D drawings to achieve technically coherent and compliant designs for our clients. This role would be based out of our Oakville, Ontario office.\nKey Responsibilities\nDepending on the role in the project, responsibilities may include and are not limited to:\nDemonstrate a range of technical capabilities with experience in Mechanical Engineering and design, and development of contract documents (design reports, analysis reports, calculations, plans, specifications, etc.).\nLead or assist in the definition of mechanical project scope\nLead mechanical engineering teams to ensure delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost, and schedule\nEstablish user requirements, analyze system functional and performance requirements, and define design criteria\nDevelop appropriate mechanical HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design schemes.\nPrepare and interpret engineering calculations including heat load calculations, and hydraulic modeling/calculations, and perform system analyses\nPrepare equipment sizing while ensuring that all analyses satisfy user and system requirements\nProvide input to other disciplines within the project design team on mechanical requirements for layouts and project designs\nConduct interface management between related systems and disciplines.\nPrepare technical specifications including input received from other project disciplines\nManage and review engineering work packages associated with project deliverables including management of project budgets and schedule.\nPrepare, review, or approve technical deliverables such as equipment specifications, data sheets, calculations, etc.\nPrepare and contribute to technical memos and reports\nProvide input to engineering, operating, and capital cost estimates\nPrepare or provide input to 3D models and 2D mechanical drawings\nParticipate in and contribute to design reviews\nAssist in the compilation and delivery of monthly engineering status reports\nAssist with technical queries raised during the construction phase\nAssist in the commissioning of systems on site as required\nGuide more junior engineers and drafters\nQualifications And Experience\nB.Sc./B.Eng. in mechanical engineering\nRegistration as a professional engineer in Ontario (PEO)\nMinimum 8 years of project engineering/design experience in buildings HVAC, Plumbing and Drainage, and Fire Protection\nExperience in LRT, Metro, or Railway /transit design projects (or any other Infrastructure projects)\nExperience in leading small and large mechanical teams in multi-disciplinary projects.\nExcellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.\nExcellent organizational, planning, time management, and problem-solving skills\nAbility to meet targets with minimal supervision\nKnowledgeable in the use of specialized engineering software such as Carrier HAP, AFT Fathom, eQUEST, etc.\nWorking knowledge of industry standards (NFPA, ASHRAE), regulations, and codes (OBC, NBC) pertinent to the infrastructure mechanical engineering discipline\nSound knowledge of engineering management systems, deliverable progress measurement\nExperience with greenfield and brownfield interfaces, including constructability experience\nWillingness to learn, develop and apply new techniques, standards, and processes\nAbility to delegate tasks and effectively supervise engineers and designers.\nThis position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.For more than 80 years, our experts have designed and delivered the critical infrastructure that connects and protects communities around the world.
