This past year alone, our success in bridge engineering has earned us numerous national and local awards, highlighting our well-established brand as the preeminent bridge engineering service provider in North America.\nWe are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in New York, NY, specializing in the design, analysis, inspection, and construction of heavy movable structures. These structures could include operating systems and hydraulics for movable bridges, lifts, drive machinery, pressurized piping systems, rail and guide systems, among others. The successful candidate will be an experienced, licensed mechanical engineer looking to advance their career and possess the communication skills and experience to lead mechanical engineering design for rehabilitation and new movable bridge projects in New York and across the US and Canada.\nKey Responsibilities:\nProvide technical leadership and direction on movable bridge projects.\nEnsure consistency in project quality.\nFollow direction from senior staff and direct the work of junior staff.\nEnsure that work is completed within budgetary constraints and expectations; implement and administer appropriate project monitoring and control mechanisms.\nEstablish and maintain cooperative and productive relationships with all employees, clients, and other stakeholders.\nCommit to quality and continuous improvement through innovation and creative thinking.\nDevelop and review plans, calculations, technical specifications, contract documents, and engineer’s estimates.\nQualifications:\n8+ years of related mechanical design/analysis experience on similar systems and components as listed above.\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) License required.\nExperience leading projects and staff on bridge projects preferred.\nTechnical experience in the area of movable bridge design and rehabilitation is a must.\nPeripheral knowledge of adjacent disciplines (electrical and structural).\nFamiliarity with AASHTO or AREMA movable bridge specifications.\nTechnical experience with pressurized piping systems, power piping for hydraulics, or standpipes preferred.\nExperience working with NYCDOT, NYSDOT, and/or NJT preferred.\nProficiency in Excel, SolidWorks, or Autodesk Inventor is a must.\nDesign-build experience is a plus.\nJoin Parsons and be part of a team that delivers innovative and impactful infrastructure projects.
