Parsons is seeking a talented Technical Writer to support the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation by transforming technical documents, policies, and procedures into effective online training, instructor guides, assessments, and digital resources.\nYou’ll collaborate with subject matter experts and IT developers to create accurate, learner-friendly content and use Adobe Creative Suite to develop graphics, diagrams, and visual materials. The ideal candidate brings strong writing, editing, research, organizational, and instructional design skills-along with the ability to make complex information easy to understand.\nEnjoy flexible work hours and work-from-home options while helping modernize workforce training and build resources that make a meaningful impact.\n\nPOSITION OVERVIEW:\nParsons is seeking an amazingly talented Technical Writer to join our team supporting the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and working with subject matter experts (SMEs) and IT Development Team to communicate clear, accurate, and engaging training materials. The position will primarily focus on creating online training content for adult students, as well as supporting materials and resources for instructors and trainers.\nTraining content will be developed largely from regulatory documents, policies, procedures, and other technical reference materials. The ideal candidate can interpret complex information, organize it into practical learning materials and modules, and communicate it in language that is easy for learners and trainers to understand.\n\nRole Responsibilities:\nUnder general supervision, assists SMEs in developing new content, converting/updating existing training program materials and certification documents into digital semi-interactive formats, and creating clear, accurate content by gathering, validating, organizing, and interpreting technical and regulatory information, policies, procedures, and related source materials.\nAssist with developing online training modules, including; lesson content, learning objectives, instructional guidelines, knowledge checks and assessments, student guides and reference materials.\nCreate instructor materials, including instructor guides, presentation materials, facilitation notes, and answer keys.\nTranslate complex regulatory and technical information into clear, concise, and learner-friendly content.\nEnsure training materials are accurate, consistent, current, and aligned with applicable regulations and program requirements.\nWork closely with SMEs and IT Development Team, supporting appropriate online placement, appearance, and formatting of the content in online learning platform and learning management system.\nUse Adobe Creative Suite applications to create or modify graphics, diagrams, illustrations, and other visual elements.\nReview artwork, text, and other materials submitted for inclusion in assigned documents. May recommend improvements for accuracy of expression, clarity, and consistency with company style.\nServes as part of a functional team to complete assignments according to schedule.\nPerforms other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.\nAdditional responsibilities include development of basic graphical media, converting digital file formats and development of other items to include charts, flyers, etc.\n\nRequired Education and Experience:\nHigh school diploma (or equivalent) and typically 5+ years of relevant work experience.\nAbility to understand and summarize complex technical and regulatory information.\nStrong research, writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills.\nExperience working with SMEs and incorporating their knowledge into clear, structured content.\nRequirements include a proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and similar software used to complete graphic design/technical writing assignments\nKnowledge of standard graphics production techniques and reproduction/printing processes is also required.\n\nPreferred Education and Experience: \nBachelor’s degree in technical writing, communications, education, instructional design, journalism, graphic design or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.\nExperience writing technical, regulatory, instructional, or process-related content.\nPrevious experience with a similar digital transformation initiative is preferred.\nCandidate would benefit from possessing mechanical aptitude and/or automotive-related knowledge.\n Security Clearance Requirement:\nNoneThis position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.For more than 80 years, our experts have designed and delivered the critical infrastructure that connects and protects communities around the world.
