Unleash your talent and redefine what’s possible.Job Description:\nParsons is looking for an amazingly talented Traffic Designer / Engineering Technologist to join our team! In this role you will get to support a wide range of assignments including multimodal corridor studies, intersection improvement projects, traffic signal design, traffic management plans, signing and pavement marking design, safety improvement initiatives, environmental assessment studies, preliminary and detailed design projects.\nWhat You'll Be Doing:\nAssist in the preparation of functional and preliminary traffic designs for roadway and intersection improvement projects.\nDevelop concept plans, design drawings, exhibits, and technical figures using CAD and related design software.\nSupport multimodal transportation projects involving pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and motorists.\nPrepare traffic signal design drawings, signal layout plans, phasing diagrams, and associated documentation under senior staff supervision.\nAssist with signing and pavement marking plan development and design reviews.\nSupport the preparation of traffic management plans, temporary traffic control plans, staging concepts, lane closure plans, and detour layouts.\nConduct field investigations, site reviews, inventory collection, and existing conditions assessments.\nCompile, review, and organize traffic data, collision data, signal timing information, and roadway inventory information.\nAssist with the preparation of technical memoranda, operational performance review reports, feasibility assessments, functional design reports, and design documentation.\nPerform quantity calculations, design checks, and quality reviews of drawings and deliverables.\nSupport environmental assessment and transportation planning projects through design development, alternative evaluation, and documentation.\nCoordinate with project managers, engineers, planners, and other disciplines to support project delivery.\nSupport construction administration activities including responding to contractor inquiries, shop drawing reviews, as-built documentation, and field inspections.\nAssist with utility coordination, permit applications, and right-of-way reviews.\nParticipate in design coordination meetings and contribute to project planning and delivery activities.\nSupport proposal development through preparation of resumes, project descriptions, graphics, and technical content.\nWhat Required Skills You'll Bring:\nEducationDiploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Transportation Engineering Technology, Municipal Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.\nBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering is also considered an asset.\n\n Registration / CertificationsCertified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation is preferred, or actively pursuing certification through OACETT.\nValid Ontario driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.\nKnowledge of road safety principles and transportation engineering practices is considered an asset.\n\nExperience2 to 3 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering, traffic engineering, roadway design, municipal engineering, or related fields.\nExperience supporting roadway, traffic signal, intersection, corridor, or transportation planning and design projects.\nFamiliarity with Ontario municipal and provincial transportation design standards.\nExperience preparing technical drawings, design exhibits, and engineering documentation.\n\nWhat Desired Skills You'll Bring:\nDesign and Transportation KnowledgeUnderstanding of roadway and intersection design principles.\nFamiliarity with traffic operations, traffic control devices, traffic signal systems, and multimodal transportation planning.\nKnowledge of traffic management and temporary traffic control concepts.\nUnderstanding of signing and pavement marking practices.\nInterest in road safety, Vision Zero initiatives, Complete Streets, and active transportation infrastructure.\n\n Standards and Guidelines Working knowledge of:Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM)\nManual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada (MUTCDC)\nTransportation Association of Canada (TAC) guidelines\nMunicipal design standards and guidelines\nMTO standards and practices\nOPSS and OPSD standards\n\n Soft SkillsStrong organizational and time management skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication abilities.\nAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to quality.\nWillingness to learn and grow within a professional consulting environment.\nPositive attitude, initiative, and enthusiasm for transportation projects.\n\nThis position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team.For more than 80 years, our experts have designed and delivered the critical infrastructure that connects and protects communities around the world.
