Our Data & AI team of 40+ engineers is scaling quickly, and we are building the leadership layer that will take it to the next stage.\n\nAbout the role : \n\nYou will lead our data science work across healthcare and life-sciences data, from structuring clinical and biomedical text to building the models behind our products. You will own the modelling approach, lead a team of data scientists, and be accountable for delivering models that work in production.\n\nThis is a hands-on leadership role. You will set the scientific direction, review the work closely, and turn complex findings into decisions for product, clients and leadership.\n\nKey responsibilities : \n\nTechnical ownership : \n\n- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of data science projects, from problem framing and dataset acquisition to model development, deployment and monitoring.\n\n- Lead NLP and information-extraction work on clinical and biomedical data : entity recognition, relation extraction, classification and structuring of unstructured text.\n\n- Decide when to use classical ML, deep learning or LLMs, including fine-tuning and LLM-based extraction.\n\n- Work with the knowledge graph team on entity linking, ontology mapping and graph-based modelling.\n\n- Set standards for experiment design, model evaluation, reproducibility and data quality.\n\nTeam leadership and delivery : \n\n- Lead a team of data scientists : sprint planning, task allocation and day-to-day unblocking.\n\n- Own delivery for your projects, including tracking progress, managing risks and giving status updates to stakeholders.\n\n- Review models, code and analyses, and raise the scientific bar of the team.\n\n- Mentor data scientists, run regular 1 : 1s and support their growth plans.\n\n- It's interview and hire for your team.\n\nBusiness and clients : \n\n- Present findings and model performance to leadership and clients in clear, non-technical terms.\n\n- Support client pitches and technical due diligence with data science expertise.\n\n- Contribute to new AI products and to IP such as patents, whitepapers and publications.\n\nMust-have qualifications : \n\n- 10+ years in data science or ML, with at least 3 years leading data scientists and delivering projects end to end.\n\n- Strong Python and a deep understanding of modern model architectures, especially transformers (encoder models such as BERT or BioBERT, and decoder-based LLMs), with hands-on experience in PyTorch and Hugging Face.\n\n- Deep experience in NLP : information extraction, text classification and structuring unstructured text.\n\n- Hands-on experience applying LLMs, including prompting, fine-tuning (full and parameter-efficient methods such as LoRA) and evaluation.\n\n- Strong statistics and experiment design, with a rigorous approach to model evaluation.\n\n- Experience taking models to production in collaboration with engineering teams.\n\n- Proven ownership of delivery using Agile practices : planning, estimation and stakeholder updates.\n\n- Ability to explain complex results clearly to non-technical audiences.\n\n- Master's or PhD in a quantitative field preferred, or equivalent experience.\n\nNice-to-have qualifications : \n\n- Experience in pharma, healthcare or life sciences, especially with clinical trial, EHR or biomedical literature data.\n\n- Experience with biomedical ontologies (UMLS, MeSH, SNOMED) and knowledge graphs.\n\n- Familiarity with MLOps tooling, Docker,
