Additional responsibilities include maintaining compliance with individual student Education Plans, Section 504 Plans, etc. They will ensure operational and functional knowledge of best practices in education, state and federal education law, FERPA and FAPE law, parent relations, behavioral management, documenting and reporting, and process-driven accountability.\nMiddle School Math (Grades 6-8)\nAt PSOE, middle school math teachers should demonstrate inspirational and creative qualities in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, classroom management, professional responsibilities, professional relationships, family involvement, and school community.\nCurriculum:\nPossess proficient understanding of integrated projects based instruction\nPossess proficient understanding and use of the Core Knowledge Sequence\nMath Teachers:\nUnderstand the strands, processes, and vocabulary of Everyday Mathematics\nUnderstand math content through senior-level math courses\nKeep current with trends, pedagogy, issues, and topics of importance in mathematics education\nHave sufficient content knowledge to be comfortable with open-ended math content in which students are actively learning math through exploration and problem solving\nResponsibilities\nPossess a background in teaching a hands-on math program or demonstrate an interest in and understanding of such a program\nBe comfortable in student-directed classrooms in which students are working together, conversing, using materials, and participating in exploration centers through integrated projects based instruction\nDemonstrate the ability to develop a math concept with manipulatives\nDemonstrate the ability to develop a math strand through several units\nBe willing to participate in mathematics professional development sessions in order to raise the level of mathematics instruction\nHave experience or interest in integrating technology tools into the math curriculum and in modeling effective use of the computer in math instruction\nProvides direct instruction in whole-class, small group, and individual settings.\nUtilizes data-driven instruction and PSOE educational frameworks to ensure delivery of standard’s driven instruction to all students.\nCompletes assessments, grading, planning, and conferences with students, staff, and families within appropriate timelines.\nUtilizes oversight by team lead, Elite Teachers, Special Education Director, school counselor, and other subcontracted professional staff/outside agencies as needed to identify and understand strategies for support and instruction of students with exceptional needs.\nEnsures appropriate classroom implementation of BIP’s, FBA’s, IEP’s and 504 programs. \nCompletes any additional reporting as requested by Special Education Director or counselor.\nDevelops and maintains regular family communication and community partnerships.\nCompletes reports and follow-up documentation as required by administration.\nKeeps updated and documented cumulative folders as ongoing case files for all current students.\nContributes to a strong school education team: serves on school and/or community committees; seeks participation and involvement with direction for ongoing local operations.\nActs as a professional advisor to the team lead/elite teacher on all aspects of school classroom activities.\nAbides by all PSOE frameworks as approved by the CEO and as noted in the staff handbook.\nMaintains ongoing, consistent, and supportive communication for the classroom as noted in the school’s frameworks.\nAssumes all roles as delegated for a variety of school functions for the purpose of managing the team workload more efficiently. \nUtilizes effective systems as delegated to troubleshoot problems, track progress, and regularly evaluate workflow components, so as to measure progress in a way that can be effectively communicated to the team lead/elite teacher.\nProgram planning and management\nContributes to the organization's mission and reflect the priorities of the school.\nIs prepared to assist in the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of special projects.\nHuman resources planning and management\nEstablishes a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations including FERPA, FAPE, Section 504, and Special Education.\nQualifications and Education Requirements\nThe Classroom Teacher will be thoroughly committed to the PSOE mission. Prior successful full-time education experience in a similar setting is preferred. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:\nValid Indiana State Teaching License or equivalent.\nBachelor’s degree in field of education.\nUnwavering commitment to quality programs and production.\nExcellence in organizational management and data disaggregation, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, and set and achieve strategic objectives.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.\nAction-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to planning.\nAbility to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.\nPassion, idealism, integrity, grit, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.\nAnnual training and/or professional development is required for all PSOE employees.
