As part of a dynamic accounting team, you will play an important role in ensuring the accurate accounting and reporting of revenue and cost of sales while partnering with teams across the organization. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys analyzing revenue and cost of sales, investigating trends and anomalies, supporting complex accounting assessments, and ensuring accurate financial reporting in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.\nPrepare and analyze significant journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules as part of the monthly close process across a variety of margin areas, including sales return provisions, royalties, commissions, warranties and other key programs. \nServe as a key accounting partner for margin related business initiatives across multiple banners, including Mark's, SportChek, Pro Hockey Life, Sports Experts, and Petroleum.\nManage accounting for royalty arrangements across multiple banners, ensuring accurate financial recognition and reporting in accordance with contractual terms and accounting standards.\nAnalyze accounts receivable balances and investigate key trends and aging movements to support accurate financial reporting.\nEnsure financial results are accurately recorded and compliant with IFRS requirements while providing insightful analysis of key drivers, trends, and variances.\nUnderstand, maintain, and enhance accounting models, reconciliations, reporting processes, and supporting financial systems to drive accurate and efficient financial reporting.\nPartner with business teams, FP&A, Accounting, and internal and external auditors to support business objectives and reporting requirements.\nSupport audits, new business initiatives, and cross-functional projects.\nIdentify process improvement opportunities and drive efficiencies through automation, standardization, and better use of data and technology.\nManage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\nTake ownership of issues, investigate root causes, and independently develop practical solutions.\nWhat You Bring:\nUniversity degree in Accounting or Finance.\nCPA designation (or working towards completion). \nMinimum 1-3 years experience in a medium/large company at a Financial Analyst/Accountant level, with strong IFRS knowledge.\nDetail oriented with strong diagnostic and analytical skills.\nStrong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; able to see the “big picture” in a complex business environment, while maintaining attention to detail and a curiosity to understand the drivers behind financial results.\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships.\nAbility to thrive in an environment responsive to changing business requirements.\nHighly driven with an exceptionally strong work ethic, time management and organization skills.\nAdvanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.\nExperience using Oracle PeopleSoft, HFM, Power BI, Copilot, or similar financial systems is considered an asset.\nFamiliarity with internal and external audit processes is considered an asset.\nLocation: Toronto, Ontario (Hybrid: In-office 4 days a week)\nWe’re always looking for great talent!
