Backend Developer - Python

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Python Backend Developer with 5+ years of experience to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python, backend frameworks, API development, and database management, along with a solid understanding of modern software development practices.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend systems and services using Python.
• Build robust RESTful APIs and microservices for web and mobile applications.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and cross-functional teams.
• Optimise applications for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability.
• Integrate third-party services, APIs, and data sources.
• Implement security and data protection best practices.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Work with DevOps teams for CI/CD pipeline integration and deployment.
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot production issues.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Technical Skills:

• Strong proficiency in Python (3x).
• Hands-on experience with backend frameworks such as Django / Flask / FastAPI.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development.
• Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL / MySQL.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases: MongoDB / Redis.
• Experience with ORM tools (e. g., Django ORM, SQLAlchemy).
• Familiarity with microservices architecture.
• Experience with version control systems (Git).
• Understanding of message queues / task queues: RabbitMQ / Kafka / Celery.
• Knowledge of web servers and deployment: Nginx, Gunicorn, Docker.

Software Engineering Practices:

• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks (PyTest, unittest).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Debugging and performance optimisation skills.

Preferred (Good-to-Have) Skills:

• Experience working with FastAPI and async programming.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms: AWS / Azure / GCP.
• Familiarity with container orchestration: Kubernetes.
• Experience with GraphQL APIs.
• Exposure to event-driven architecture.
• Understanding of security best practices (OAuth2 JWT, encryption).
• Experience in caching mechanisms: Redis / Memcached
• Knowledge of front-end technologies (React, Angular) is a plus.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
