Path Robotics is a company founded in 2014 in Columbus, Ohio that builds autonomous welding robots for manufacturers facing a shortage of skilled welders. Its systems scan each part with computer vision, plan the weld path themselves and adapt to variation instead of following a pre-programmed trajectory. The technology is aimed at high-mix, low-volume fabrication that conventional robots cannot handle.

Build the Path Forward

At Path Robotics, we’re building the future of embodied intelligence. Our AI-driven systems enable robots to adapt, learn, and perform in the real world closing the skilled labor gap and transforming industries. We go beyond traditional methods, combining perception, reasoning, and control to deliver field-ready AI that is risk-aware, reliable, and continuously improving through real-world use.

Big, hard problems are our everyday work, and our team of intelligent, humble, and driven people make the impossible possible together.

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Field Services Lead to head our field technician team along with our Field Services Manager. In this role you will split your time between doing the hands-on technical work (the Player) and coaching, developing, and holding accountable the technicians around you (the Coach). • Operate, maintain, and repair multi-robotic welding systems, pneumatics, electrical/mechanical components, and automation equipment (local and customer sites)
  • Perform preventive maintenance, validate repairs, and track cell performance and part fit-up
  • Integrate autonomous welding cells into customer manufacturing processes; proficient in robotic kinematics, system integration, and communication protocols
  • Operate Forge cells via command prompts and code changes; maintain deep process expertise
  • Load and inspect welded assemblies using robotic vision systems
  • Analyze data with a root-cause focus to reduce repeat failures; manage parts and assembly inventory

Team Leadership & Coaching

  • Build and deliver technician onboarding and a repeatable ramp program
  • Provide daily field coaching; reinforce standard work, SOD/EOD routines, and documentation standards
  • Hold team members accountable for performance, quality, and professionalism
  • Identify skill gaps, build development plans, and review progress monthly
  • Partner with operations on scheduling; improve troubleshooting consistency through playbooks and mentorship

Customer & Operational Impact

  • Serve as the trusted customer point of contact during high-pressure situations; communicate clearly on status and risks
  • Collaborate with engineering to resolve issues and drive systemic fixes
  • Operate specialized equipment integrated into customer manufacturing processes
  • Adapt to evolving customer needs and rapid technology changes
  • Willingness to travel 75%+ of the time to customer sites

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems, preferably in manufacturing or industrial automation.
  • Prior experience in a lead, senior, or team-lead role with demonstrated ability to develop others.
  • Technical training, trade school certification, Associate degree in Engineering Technology, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Deep familiarity with robotic systems, automation equipment, and troubleshooting complex electromechanical issues.
  • Familiarity with fabrication or machine shop processes; welding experience is a strong plus (certifications not required).
  • Comfortable working with programming languages and command-line tools.
  • Exceptional communication skills - able to translate technical issues clearly for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with experience handling small, fragile, or high-precision components.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish fluency is a plus but not required.
  • Passionate about building team capability and holding a high bar for quality.
  • Eagerness to keep learning in a fast-moving, technology-driven environment.

Why You'll Love It Here
