Our team, composed of diverse employees with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, is passionate about solving challenging problems and making a huge impact on patient outcomes.\nThe Opportunity\nPathAI is hiring its first dedicated Developer Operations Engineer to own the systems that let our engineers ship: release automation, CI/CD, build and deployment infrastructure, and developer environments across our products. That includes AISight, our digital pathology platform used by hospitals and labs and deployed both in the cloud and on-premises, as well as the software behind our biopharma clinical trial services.\nToday this work is spread across product engineers and is constantly weighed against feature delivery. You will change that. You'll own your own backlog and OKRs, set technical direction for how we build, test, and release software, and partner closely with our product and integration engineering teams, embedding with them when a project calls for it. Because our clinical software is regulated as a medical device, you'll design automation that makes releases faster and safer while meeting our quality system requirements.\nThis is a high-leverage senior role with a clear path to growing into a team. Your work will directly return engineering capacity to the organization and make frequent, low-risk releases routine.\nYou will own our release process end to end for both cloud and on-premises deployments, automating manual steps such as versioning, localization, and zero-downtime (blue-green) cutovers\nYou will partner with our quality and regulatory teams to design compliant release and rollback processes, so we can ship changes and revert them quickly and safely\nYou will design and maintain fast, reliable CI/CD pipelines, with sensible container image build strategies and consistent configuration across repositories, using DORA metrics to measure and improve delivery performance\nYou will bring all of our product lines onto a common release and infrastructure model, including zero-downtime deployments, repository consolidation, and faster pipeline feedback for developers\nYou will standardize deployment tooling, monitoring, and observability across cloud, on-premises, production, and test environments, including packaging and upgrade paths for customer-hosted installations\nYou will build the product performance metrics we report as part of ongoing regulatory monitoring\nYou will automate the release documentation our quality system requires as a regulated medical device company\nYou will find and fix the root causes of recurring operational issues, tightening feedback loops between support and engineering\nYou will set long-term direction for how every PathAI service is built, deployed, and operated\nWho You Are (Required)\nYou have 5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform, build/release, or site reliability engineering\nYou have deep expertise designing and maintaining CI/CD systems (e.g. GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Kargo)\nYou have strong experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar)\nYou have hands-on experience with a major cloud provider, preferably AWS, as well as deploying and supporting software in customer-hosted, on-premises environments\nYou are proficient in at least one scripting or programming language such as Python or Go\nYou have experience implementing zero-downtime deployment strategies such as blue-green or canary releases\nYou are familiar with monitoring and observability tooling (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)\nYou have the ability to quickly learn unfamiliar codebases and reason through operational problems in systems you didn't write\nYou can self-direct: you can define a roadmap, prioritize your own backlog, and communicate progress to engineering leadership\nPreferred\nYou have experience in a regulated environment (FDA, IVDR, ISO 13485, or IEC 62304)\nYou have experience consolidating repositories into a monorepo or standardizing build tooling across many services\nYou have a background in healthcare, life sciences, or medical imaging, especially deploying into hospital IT environments with restricted or air-gapped networks\nThis is a hybrid position based in Boston, MA. Relocation benefits are not available for this position.\nThe expected salary range for this position based on the primary location Boston, MA is $127,500 - $195,500.
