You’ll be expected to take ownership of complex and sometimes ambiguous engineering problems, determine the right technical approach, and deliver high-quality solutions from design through to production.\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn the design and delivery of significant features and technical initiatives across your team’s domain\nTranslate product requirements and ambiguous problems into pragmatic, scalable technical solutions\nMake sound architectural and implementation decisions, balancing quality, speed, maintainability and customer impact\nBuild and maintain robust applications using Python/Django, Angular and TypeScript\nWork closely with Product, Design and other engineers to shape technical specifications and delivery plans\nTake responsibility for code quality, testing, debugging, deployment and ongoing operation of the software you build\nImprove existing systems and identify opportunities to simplify, modernise or strengthen our codebase\nProvide thoughtful code reviews and technical guidance to other engineers\nMentor and support less experienced engineers and contribute to raising engineering standards across the team\nExplore and apply new technologies, including foundation models and agent-based workflows, where they can meaningfully improve our products\n\nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\n5+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated capability\nStrong experience building modern web applications across both backend and frontend\nProficiency in Python and Django - or deep expertise in another Python web framework with the ability to become productive in Django quickly\nStrong JavaScript and TypeScript skills\nExpertise with a modern frontend framework; Angular experience is strongly preferred\nExperience working with foundation models or AI-enabled applications; Gemini experience is an advantage\nExperience designing and developing RESTful APIs; Django REST Framework experience is preferred\nStrong knowledge of relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL\nSolid understanding of software design principles, data structures and common architectural patterns\nStrong Git and modern software-development workflow experience\nThe ability to independently work through complex problems and make good technical decisions without needing detailed direction\nStrong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly\nA track record of helping other engineers improve through mentoring, code review or technical leadership\nA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience\nUnrestricted working rights in Australia\n\nBenefits\nCompetitive salary of AU$135,000-$165,000 base + super\nWork remotely from anywhere in Australia\nA collaborative engineering culture with meaningful technical autonomy\nThe opportunity to solve complex problems across a broad and modern technology stack\nExposure to rapidly evolving technologies including AI, foundation models and agent workflows\nClear engineering career levels, with opportunities to progress into technical leadership, Staff and Principal engineering roles\n\n Pathify sells the best Campus Experience Platform in the world.
