This internship will provide hands-on exposure to the commercial, strategic, and development activities involved in advancing utility-scale renewable energy projects. The intern will work alongside the Business Development team and cross-functional partners to support existing wind projects while also helping evaluate potential future opportunities within the broader market.\nInternship Accountabilities\nSupport business development activities associated with Pattern’s project portfolio, including research, analysis, presentations, and development initiatives.\nAssist with early-stage prospecting and market screening to identify potential areas and opportunities for future renewable energy development.\nResearch generation trends, electricity demand, transmission considerations, market dynamics, and other factors that may influence development strategy.\nAssist with commercial and financial analyses\nSupport evaluation of potential project opportunities, customers, strategic partners, and other stakeholders.\nPrepare internal presentations, project updates, briefing materials, maps/data summaries, and recommendations for the Business Development team and company leadership.\nParticipate in Business Development and project meetings and contribute research, ideas, and analysis to address real-world development challenges.\nCollaborate with colleagues across Development, Transmission, Finance, Regulatory, Engineering, Legal, and other functions.\nComplete a meaningful summer project focused on a business development opportunity or strategic question and present findings and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship.\nInternship Learning & Development Opportunities:\nThis internship offers the opportunity to:\nBuild an understanding of the renewable energy development lifecycle, from early-stage market prospecting through project advancement.\nGain exposure to the commercial and strategic considerations behind utility-scale wind development.\nBuild familiarity with the energy markets and the factors that shape renewable energy development opportunities.\nDevelop practical skills in market research, commercial and financial analysis, presentation development, and project strategy.\nWork alongside experienced professionals across multiple disciplines and participate in Pattern’s broader Early Careers programming.\nQualifications\nEducation/Experience Required\nCurrently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Energy, Environmental Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.\nStrong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to synthesize complex information and communicate key findings clearly.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.\nDemonstrated intellectual curiosity and interest in renewable energy, electricity markets, transmission, infrastructure development, or energy transition.\nAbility to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail.\nThe expected starting pay rate for this role is $26.00 - $28.00 USD/Hour.
