Specifically, this role requires detailed understanding of wind turbine mechanical systems and experience performing advanced vibration analysis of these systems. The Engineer will be responsible for daily monitoring, collaborating with sites to optimize remaining useful life of components, continuously improving the condition monitoring program capabilities, investigating equipment failures, performing root cause assessments, and deploying solutions to improve component reliability.\nKey Accountabilities\nThe key responsibilities will include the following:\nInvestigate mechanical equipment failures on Pattern’s operational assets, perform root cause assessments, and determine containment and correction actions to prevent future failures.\nOversee and provide project management support to the Original Equipment Manufacturers with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for reliability related issues.\nPerform vibration analysis and develop necessary methods for the early detection of component failures and damages on wind turbine components. Monitor system data flow health and resolve issues to ensure high system availability and performance.\nAct as Pattern’s subject matter expert for wind turbine condition based and predictive based maintenance to ensure the latest developments in hardware, software and analysis methodologies are applied.\nWork cooperatively with other discipline engineering leaders in the group to ensure a holistic approach to wind turbines and solar reliability.\nProvide technical support for the operations field teams with inspection guidance, turbine troubleshooting and operational status assessment.\nQualifications\nEDUCATION/Experience/Qualifications Required Educational Experience\nA Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or similar Engineering degree is required as a minimum. Master’s degree preferred.\nWork Experience\n3-5 years or more experience as a mechanical reliability engineer and/or vibration condition monitoring engineer in wind industry.\nPreferred experience utilizing fleetMONITOR condition monitoring software or required experience with other diagnostics software packages for wind turbine vibration data.\nExperience with Siemens, GE, or other wind OEM hardware and software\nAdditional Qualifications\nMust be able to climb modern wind turbine without a lift or climb assist\nStrong technical capabilities and a creative, curious, self-driven work ethic\nAbility to work well in and/or lead cross functional teams with little supervision or oversight\nDesire to work in the field in challenging environments to collect data for RCA or system studies\nAbility to travel (Up to 20% travel)\nTechnical Skills\nAbility to perform advanced mathematical calculations, signal processing, and analysis of vibration data using available industry vibration software packages.\nFamiliarity with programming in Python, R, MATLAB, or similar and ability to apply knowledge toward improving fleet performance and reliability\nKnowledge of SCADA data and principles of databases and historians, including experience with Structured Query Language\nAbility to turn detailed vibration assessment into comprehensible and actionable maintenance actions for the operations team.\nAbility to simply and effectively communicate complex concepts\nAbility to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, and documents relating to engineering and construction, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams\nAbility to quickly assess emergency situations and requirements to develop and implement appropriate action plans\nAbility to work around energized equipment under proper lock-out, tag-out, and other safety procedures\nAbility to occasionally perform physical requirements including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and climbing at project locations in order to inspect equipment or collect information\nThe expected starting pay range for this role is $90,000 - $120,000 USD. This range is an estimate, and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
