To show up to work each day with a positive mindset and an eagerness to expand knowledge of the facility.\nKey Accountabilities\nOperate and maintain wind turbines and associated wind plant equipment, including substation, transmission lines, collection system, tower switchgear, and other various Balance of Plant activities.\nRead schematics to troubleshoot complicated mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems with variable pitch, variable speed control systems and components.\nPerform mechanical and electrical component repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions, following all manufacturers' requirements.\nComply with all project’s environmental health and safety programs.\nPerform preventive maintenance in accordance with OEM and/or Pattern Energy maintenance practices.\nAdhere to effective internal controls.\nOperate and maintain service vehicle.\nMaintain tools in good working order and well-organized.\nPerform data collection and prepare reports to meet wind plant reporting requirements.\nQualifications\nExperience/Qualifications/Education Required\nRequirements\nOne year college or technical school certificate; or 12+ months of related experience or wind industry training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nValid driver's license and acceptable driving record.\nAbility to climb 80+ meter steel towers daily to perform maintenance in the nacelle and hub.\nAbility to frequently lift items that weigh 1 to 60 pounds and occasionally lift items from 61 to 100 pounds.\nAdvanced computer skills utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, email, facility control, management and reporting systems, including the use of computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.\nAbility to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.\nWilling to work overtime on holidays, weekends, and on short notice. Participate in an on-call schedule.\nAbility to work in adverse weather conditions.\nAbility to work around low and medium voltage.\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of discrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.\nWeight must not exceed 265 lbs. excluding equipment/gear worn when performing job related tasks.\nKnowledge of heavy equipment required for facility maintenance with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.\nExperience with maintenance and electronic testing equipment. (i.e. voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, infrared testers, hydraulic torque equipment, alignment and various hand and power tools.)\nWillingness and desire to increase professional knowledge of turbine equipment, including safety regulations. May require travel to other wind sites within U.S. or Canada.\nPreference may be given to candidates with the following:\nExperience in power plant operations and maintenance.\nExperience in wind plant operations and turbine experience; including specific experience in wind turbine power converters.\nExperience in medium/ high voltage switching.\nExperience with Siemens or GE platforms\nExperience in troubleshooting turbines\nStrong communication skills\nExcellent safety culture\nThe expected starting hourly pay rate for a Wind Technician varies by level as follows::\nWind Technician I: $28.00 - $34.00 CAD/per hour\nWind Technician II: $30.00 - $38.00 CAD/per hour\n Wind Technician III: $34.00 - $42.00 CAD/per hour\nThese ranges are an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
