About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team based in our Brighton office, with a strong background in building scalable, high-quality, and high-performance software solutions. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software that is critical to our flagship access control products. You will also be responsible for mentoring and coaching team members.

  • You will design solutions for new features and bug fixes according to project requirements and specifications
  • You will provide leadership for project requirements, planning and reporting
  • Collaborate with the Principal Engineer, Apps and Cloud teams
  • Ensure the technical integrity of user interfaces, back end API services, mobile apps, and cloud services, using test driven design methodologies and best practice
  • Identify problems or risks early on in the development cycle to help the team avoid or mitigate these risks to ensure efficient delivery of work to be completed
  • You will be able to help provide input and suggestions to other team member's designs or take part int the decision-making process to ensure progress on tasks and deliverables
  • You will play an active part in reviewing your own and other people's code throughout the development process to help the team ensure good coding practices as we deliver our work
  • Review and provide feedback on requirements, specifications and designs to assure product quality
  • Actively contribute towards decision on overall architecture and technologies used in our software products

  • Play a key role in developing and enhancing software that supports our flagship access control products, with the opportunity to influence architecture, technology decisions, and product direction.
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality solutions, mentor colleagues, and help create an environment of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

What are we looking for?

  • Extensive experience in a Senior or Lead Software Engineering role, leading projects, programmes or workstreams.
  • Strong technical expertise in C#, .NET, databases, Web APIs, Azure cloud services, and modern application architectures.
  • Experience and ability to support successful project delivery, providing guidance to teams, and making informed decisions to overcome challenges and risks.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop colleagues while providing technical guidance to wider engineering teams, effectively delegating work to build capability, support team growth, and deliver shared objectives.
  • Front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, Angular or React would be advantageous
  • An excellent team player who enjoys collaboration.
