This role focuses on database administration, performance tuning, production troubleshooting, high availability, and partnering with development teams to ensure reliable and scalable database operations.\nResponsibilities\nAdminister, monitor, and support enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments.\nTroubleshoot production database issues and lead investigations through resolution.\nPerform database performance tuning, including query optimization, execution plan analysis, indexing, and stored procedure optimization.\nSupport and maintain SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups and disaster recovery processes.\nCollaborate with application development teams on database design, deployments, and performance improvements.\nManage database backups, restores, capacity planning, and ongoing maintenance activities.\nSupport reporting and ETL environments, including SSIS and Power BI Report Server/SSRS.\nDocument technical findings, root cause analyses(RCA), and operational procedures.\nQualifications\n4+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator supporting Microsoft SQL Server environments.\nStrong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (SQL Server 2022 or recent versions).\nAdvanced knowledge of T-SQL, query optimization, execution plans, indexing, and performance troubleshooting.\nExperience using SQL Server diagnostic and monitoring tools, including Query Store, execution plans, and DMVs.\nProven experience investigating and resolving complex production database incidents, including root cause analysis (RCA).\nProven experience investigating and resolving complex production database incidents.\nExperience with SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups and high availability/disaster recovery concepts.\nStrong understanding of database administration, security, backup/recovery, and monitoring best practices.\nExperience working closely with software development teams and supporting database-related deployments.\nFamiliarity with tools such as Query Store, SSIS, Power BI Report Server/SSRS, Jira, and Confluence is preferred.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.\nWhat's in it for you?\nA flexible work philosophy\nCompany paid private health insurance\nCompany paid life and disability insurance\nPaid leave for illness, birth parents, non-birth parents, elder caregivers, marriage, adoption of a child and bereavement\nInclusive and accessible Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to help with everyday challenges\nChristmas and Easter bonuses\nOpportunity for strengthening expertise and skills through Paychex’s learning platform, including lessons in English\nNot sure if you meet every requirement?\nAt Paychex, we know that great talent comes in many forms.
