Product Manager
Reports to Director of Engineering Location Remote, US Revised 1 Oct 2026
About Payroll Integrations
Payroll Integrations is a technology platform that powers secure data connections between payroll providers and the financial and benefits platforms that rely on payroll data. We automate retirement contributions, benefits deductions, and other payroll-based financial workflows by connecting hundreds of payroll providers with 401(k) recordkeepers, benefits platforms, and administrators, so our clients can eliminate manual data exchange.
We are an AI-forward company. Engineering is adopting an agentic-first delivery model, where written implementation specs and test-driven development feed AI agents that generate tests and review pull requests. Product works the same way: we use vetted AI skills and agents to draft and check specifications, aggregate project status, and produce downstream documentation. The judgment stays with the person. The typing does not have to.
About the role
We are hiring Product Managers across our product teams as the company scales. Each Product Manager is embedded in one engineering team, such as platform or integrations, and owns that team’s initiatives end to end: from the product requirements document through validation, beta, and launch, including the timeline, the dependencies, and the coordination it takes to get there. Project management is a defined part of this role, not an adjacent duty. You are the connective tissue between business stakeholders, clients, partners, and engineering. You do not need to be a developer. Our engineering team is deeply technical. You do need strong opinions, comfort on client and partner calls, and the ability to turn a messy business conversation into something an engineer can build and QA can prove. In an agentic-first shop, the specification you write is the input the machine builds from. That makes clear, testable requirements the highest-leverage thing you produce, and this role is built around them. This position is fully remote for candidates anywhere in the United States. We prefer people who work Eastern time hours.
What you will do
- Own your initiatives. Be the named owner and the standing answer on status for every project you hold.Ownership
- Write the spec. Turn requests from executives, partners, and clients into PRDs, epics, and stories with testable acceptance criteria before work begins.Requirements
- Run the plan. Keep dates, dependencies, and priorities current, and chase blockers to resolution.Delivery
- Keep stakeholders aligned. Publish one current status per project for engineering, partners, clients, and the business, and escalate with a clear ask.Communication
- Ship to criteria. Define entry and exit criteria for releases and betas, equip downstream teams before go-live, and close each beta with a written decision.Launch
- Be the product voice. Represent your team’s roadmap on client calls, partner discussions, and product demos.
- Triage inquiries. Manage intake for requests in your team’s area and communicate status to stakeholders.
- Keep Jira and Confluence as the source of truth for requirements and project status.
- Use AI daily. Draft and stress-test specs, pull status, and generate documentation with our vetted skills and agents. You own every word that ships.
What you bring
- Experience. Three to five years of product management at a small or mid-sized SaaS company, with acceptance criteria, user stories, and PRDs written in an Agile environment.
- Communication. You can absorb a messy client or executive conversation and return it as something an engineer can start on and QA can prove without a second conversation.
- Judgment and opinions. You make and defend calls at your level, push back with evidence and an alternative when a request cannot be built, scheduled, or reconciled with an existing commitment, and hold the scope line under pressure.
- Project management discipline. You have run plans with real dates and dependencies, and you treat schedule and follow-through as core product work rather than overhead.
- Fluency with AI tools. You already use LLM assistants to draft, summarize, and check your own work, and you can tell good output from plausible-sounding output.
- Tooling. Proficiency with Jira and Confluence for backlog and requirements management.
- Client and partner-facing comfort. Product calls, partner discussions, and occasional demos.
