You’ll work across distributed systems and data-heavy workflows where reliability, performance, and correctness are critical.\nThis is a strong fit for engineers who enjoy solving complex backend and data problems, working across multiple services, and building systems that operate under real-world scale and operational demands.\n\nWhat You'll Do (Responsibilities):\nDesign, implement, and maintainbackend services and internal tools in Java, powering the processing and analysis of millions of financial transactions daily\n\nOwn and evolve PostgreSQL -based data models, queries, and performance optimization across multiple services.\n\nBuild and improve systems that automate operational and transaction-monitoring workflows at scale\n\nWork within a distributed microservices ecosystem, handling service communication, dependencies, and evolving integrations\n\nContribute to the design and implementation of a new fraud monitoring platform built on the company’s modern technology stack\n\nInvestigate complex production and operational issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement long-term improvements\n\nCollaborate closely with QA and Analytics teams to ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and operationally effective\n\nMonitor and improve system performance, observability, reliability, and scalability across services\n\nContribute to CI/CD and deployment automation improvements across engineering workflows\n\nWhat You’ll Need To Be Successful In This Role:\n5+ years of backend development experience with Java and Spring\n\nStrong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production systems\n\nExperience working with distributed systems and microservices architectures\n\nExperience with major cloud platforms, preferably AWS or GCP\n\nStrong engineering mindset with the ability to solve unfamiliar and complex technical problems independently\n\nComfortable working across multiple services and technical domains\n\nStrong ownership mentality from implementation through deployment and operational support\n\nAbility to adapt quickly to changing technical and business priorities\n\nGreat to have:\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (GitLab preferred)\n\nExperience with Docker or other containerization technologies\n\nHands-on experience with C# or Rust\n\nExperience in fintech, payments, fraud detection, or other transaction-heavy systems\n\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field\n\nWhy Join Paysend?\nMake a Global Impact:\n\nJoin a company that is transforming how people and businesses move money around the world.
