The role will contribute across design, development, testing, integration, and production readiness, with a strong focus on maintainability, security, and reliable delivery.\nCore Responsibilities and Accountabilities:\nDesign, develop and maintain Java-based backend services and implementation components.\nTranslate functional and technical requirements into clean, testable, and maintainable code.\nBuild and consume REST APIs and integrate with databases, payment services, and enterprise platforms.\nDevelop unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and resolve defects identified during testing.\nInvestigate implementation issues using application logs, traces, and database queries.\nSupport CI/CD, environment deployment, release readiness, and production stabilisation activities.\nProduce technical documentation, runbooks and reusable implementation assets, support knowledge transfer.\nKnowledge and Experience:\nStrong enterprise Java development experience, preferably using Spring or Spring Boot.\nExperience with REST APIs, relational databases, SQL, and application integration.\nUnderstanding of object-oriented design, common design patterns, secure coding, and software development lifecycle practices.\nExperience with automated testing, debugging, Git and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.\nAbility to work within cross-functional implementation teams and deliver against agreed milestones.\nClear written and verbal communication in a client-facing environment.\nTools & Technologies: Java, Spring Boot, REST, SQL, JUnit, Maven or Gradle, Git, Docker, Jira, or Azure DevOps.\nMandatory Skills:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).\nPrevious experience within Banking, Digital Payment & Card solutions, or the FinTech industry.\nRegional experience, including working in a faced-paced matrix organisation.\nExcellent communication skills in English (written, verbal, and presentation), French is advantageous.\nWillingness to travel across West and Central Africa may be relevant for subsequent phases.\nPreferred Skills:\nExposure to microservices, containers, messaging platforms, or cloud environments.\nFamiliarity with performance testing, observability, and production support for transaction-processing systems.\nExpected Deliverables:\nA clear discovery and implementation plan aligned with the assigned client workstream.\nHigh-quality technical or analytical outputs, supported by appropriate testing, validation, and documentation.\nTimely identification and escalation of delivery risks, dependencies and data or integration blockers.\nReusable implementation assets, runbooks and structured knowledge transfer to relevant client and delivery
