This is a hands-on role within an SME manufacturing environment, covering financial control, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, group reporting, ERP processes and product costing.\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to the following:\nPrepare monthly management accounts, financial reporting packs and group submissions.\n\nManage month-end and year-end close.\n\nOversee balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and inventory accounting.\n\nManage cash flow forecasting, working capital, banking and treasury requirements.\n\nCoordinate the annual audit and preparation of statutory financial statements.\n\nEnsure compliance with tax, VAT, payroll and statutory reporting obligations.\n\nMaintain appropriate financial controls, policies and procedures.\n\nPrepare budgets, forecasts and rolling financial projections.\n\nMonitor performance against budget, forecast and financial KPIs.\n\nProvide financial and commercial analysis to support pricing, investment, capacity planning and profitability.\n\nSupport capital expenditure planning and post-investment reviews.\n\nWork closely with operations, engineering, quality, logistics and customer service.\n\nManage and improve financial processes within the ERP system.\n\nMaintain product costing models covering BOMs, routings, labour rates, overhead absorption, inventory valuation and manufacturing variances.\n\nProduce margin and profitability analysis by product, customer and project.\n\nEnsure financial data is accurate across purchasing, inventory, production, sales orders and invoicing.\n\nLead and develop the finance team.\n\nProvide oversight and support across selected back-office processes, including payroll, purchasing administration, customer service and logistics.\n\nSupport audit readiness, process improvement and documentation standards across finance and related functions.\n\nRequirements\nQualified accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA.\n\nIdeally at least five years’ post-qualification experience in a senior finance role.\n\nExperience within manufacturing, medical devices, engineering, plastics, high-volume production or another regulated environment.\n\nStrong knowledge of manufacturing finance and product costing.\n\nERP experience covering BOMs, routings, standard costing, inventory and profitability analysis.\n\nExperience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and reporting packs.\n\nStrong knowledge of internal controls, audit preparation, statutory compliance, tax and VAT.\n\nPrevious experience managing or supervising finance staff.\n\nStrong Excel and financial modelling skills.\n\nAbility to explain financial information clearly to colleagues outside finance.\n\nExperience within an SME, an international group reporting structure or an ISO 13485/cGMP-regulated environment would be an advantage.\nThis position will suit a commercially minded Financial Controller who enjoys working closely with the wider business and taking a practical approach to finance.
