The role drives and holds accountability for operational excellence, compliance, safety, engineering performance, capital delivery and organisational capability with engineering team. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong troubleshooting capabilities, project leadership skills, and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing innovative engineering solutions that support business growth, customer requirements, and operational efficiency.\nKey Responsibilities\nResponsible for process engineering within PCI’s Ireland operations including:\nProcess Ownership & Technical LeadershipLead engineering, maintenance, automation and facilities teams.\nDevelop engineering strategy aligned to site objectives.\nAct as the leader of technical SME for assigned manufacturing, packaging, serialization, or automation processes.\nDevelop, maintain, and continually improve process knowledge, standards, and best practices across site operations.\nProvide technical leadership and coaching to operations, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams.\nSupport investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of effective CAPAs for process and equipment-related deviations.\n\n Operational ExcellenceLead initiatives to improve OEE, throughput, quality performance, reliability, and waste reduction.\nApply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize operational performance.\nUtilize process data and performance metrics to identify trends, prioritize improvement opportunities, and deliver sustainable solutions.\nSupport Right First Time (RFT) and On Time In Full (OTIF) performance objectives.\n\nEquipment Reliability & TroubleshootingProvide advanced troubleshooting support for manufacturing and packaging equipment to minimize downtime.\nPartner with Maintenance and Operations teams to improve equipment availability, reliability, and maintainability.\nIdentify recurring equipment issues and implement long-term corrective actions.\nSupport predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to maximize asset lifecycle performance.\n\nAutomation & Digital TechnologiesSupport automation initiatives including PLC, HMI, vision systems, serialization platforms, and digital manufacturing technologies.\nCollaborate with equipment vendors, OEMs, and system integrators to optimize machine functionality and performance.\nIdentify opportunities for digitalization, Industry 4.0 technologies, and process automation to drive productivity improvements.\nParticipate in software modifications, equipment upgrades, and control system improvements where appropriate.\n\n Engineering ProjectsLead or support capital investment planning, URS, FAT, SAT, commissioning and qualification execution.\nSupport Automation and Digital Transformation\nPrepare business cases and technical justifications for capital investment opportunities.\nParticipate in User Requirement Specification (URS) development, equipment selection, procurement, FAT, SAT, installation, commissioning, and validation activities.\nEnsure projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and within budget.\n\n Compliance & Quality SystemsEnsure compliance with cGMP, GDP, regulatory requirements, company procedures, and Good Engineering Practice (GEP).\nGenerate and review engineering documentation including SOPs, change controls, risk assessments, technical reports, validation documentation, and engineering standards.\nMaintain technical drawings, equipment specifications, and engineering documentation throughout their lifecycle.\nSupport internal, customer, and regulatory audits as required.\n\nRisk ManagementLead and participate in risk assessments including FMEA, HAZOP, machine safety, and process risk evaluations.\nEnsure engineering risks are identified, assessed, controlled, and documented.\nSupport business continuity and risk mitigation initiatives.\n\nHealth, Safety & EnvironmentalChampion a strong safety culture and ensure safe systems of work are followed at all times.\nParticipate in EHS initiatives, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation.\nIdentify opportunities to improve environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and waste reduction.\nEnsure safe work practices are being followed at all times, report any near misses immediately to the EHS Department.\n\nSupplier & Stakeholder ManagementCollaborate with suppliers, contractors, OEMs, and service providers to deliver engineering solutions.\nSupport supplier assessment, qualification, and performance management activities.\nBuild strong relationships across Operations, Quality, Validation, Supply Chain, Procurement, Clietns and Customer-facing functions.\n\nContinuous Improvement & InnovationMonitor emerging technologies, pharmaceutical industry trends, and best practices.\nIdentify strategic opportunities to enhance site capabilities and competitive advantage.\nSupport the development of engineering standards, workflows, and operational excellence programs.\nLead and participate in continuous improvement projects aligned with site strategic objectives.\n\nKnowledge / Skills & Experience / Competencies\nEssential:\nDegree in Engineering discipline.\n10+ years in pharmaceutical, medical device or regulated industry.\n5+ years leadership experience.\nStrong GMP, validation, quality systems and project management knowledge.\nExperience managing engineering budgets and capital projects.\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills.\nDemonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex process and equipment issues.\nExperience of automation in an engineering environment\nExperience supporting equipment qualification, validation, FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.\nUnderstanding of serialization systems and associated regulatory requirements.\nStrong knowledge of cGMP, quality systems, risk management, and Good Engineering Practice.\nExperience with structured problem-solving methodologies such as DMAIC, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, or RCA.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced operational environment.\nExcellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.\nStrong analytical capability with a data-driven approach to decision making.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, Visio, and CMMS systems.\nKey CompetenciesStrategic
