Time as an intern will be split between office and field tasks including surveying, geotechnical engineering and AutoCAD orientation and potentially design tasks if proven to be proficient.\nResponsibilities\nSupports Survey department activities by performing computations, field work, and setup of equipment. \nSupports Geotech department by performing geotechnical testing and construction materials testing tasks.\nTraining in AutoCAD and PEA Group standards.\nAssists technical staff with various tasks, including researching, compiling and evaluating project data and performing calculations for projects. \nPerforms construction assistance related tasks including visiting job sites, inspections, reviewing submittals, and coordinating with design team for revisions.\nAdheres to safety protocols and procedures outlined by PEA Group.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nFormal Education, Licenses and Certifications\nHigh School Diploma required. \nMust be currently enrolled in an accredited engineering degree program, preferably Civil Engineering.\nMust possess a valid driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.\nKnowledge and Experience\nUnderstanding of basic civil engineering principles, theories and methods.\nExperience using AutoCAD preferred but not required. \nWorking knowledge of typical computer software programs (Microsoft Office, etc.)\nCompetencies and Personal Attributes\nSelf-motivated and responsible.\nTeam player with excellent written and oral communication skills is preferred.\nAbility to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction. \nAbility to learn to prepare, understand and interpret engineering site plans, specifications and other related documents.\nProficient with the use of computers including spreadsheets, word processing, engineering software and ability to prepare electronic design calculation documents.\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Some outdoor work is required in the survey, inspection and testing at various land use developments, construction sites or public works facilities. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate drafting instruments, computers and various pieces of office equipment.\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.\nAvailability\nThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and overtime as required.\nTravel\nTravel will be required to respective job sites and is primarily local during the business day.
