As a member of our leadership team, the General Foreman will play a key role in fostering a safe, productive, and collaborative work environment while supporting operational excellence across the Rolling Stock Shop\nJob Summary\nThe Drill Mechanic is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of drilling equipment utilized in surface mining operations. This role ensures drilling equipment is maintained in optimal operating condition to support production goals while adhering to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The Drill Mechanic diagnoses mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues, performs preventative and corrective maintenance, and works collaboratively with operations and maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime and maximize reliability.\nJob Description\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nVisibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values\nAct in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System\nInspect work area or hazards, damage and defects\nDiagnose faults or breakdowns\nEstimate time and materials required to complete jobs\nRaise orders for materials\nUndertake repairs or component changeouts as required\nEnsure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements\nAbility to solve problems and troubleshoot situations arising in the drill maintenance area\nAbility to operate oxygen/acetylene cutting torch and perform arc welding with low hydrogen electrodes\nAbility to use read and use low voltage electricial, air and hydraulic schematics in performing repairs \nAbility to operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts, overhead shop cranes etc\nAbility to rebuild air valves and perform adjustments on air system governors\nOther duties as assigned by the company\nPhysical Requirements\nSURFACE ENVIRONMENT\nMust have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift\nMust have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles\nMust have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders\nMust have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA\nMust have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination\nMust have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift\nMust have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area\nMust have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)\nEducation\nTrade Certificate preferred\nAbout Peabody\nPeabody is a leading coal producer, supplying essential products that support the generation of affordable, reliable energy and the production of steel worldwide.
