Shoal Creek Mine is one of the deepest underground coal mines in the United States. Located on the Black Warrior River, this site produces one of the highest qualities of met coal in the United States. With nine-foot-tall workings, a brand-new longwall, and 15+ years of projected coal reserves, Shoal Creek mine is an ideal place to work.\nLocated in between Jefferson, Walker, and Tuscaloosa counties in Alabama, this area offers beautiful rivers and lakes, landscapes, and rolling hills at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains. Oakman is about an hour from Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, both of which provide diverse, family-friendly communities with something for everyone, such as vibrant downtowns, safe, friendly neighborhoods, and excellent schools, including the University of Alabama and other area colleges.\nPeabody’s Shoal Creek Mine has a safety-first culture and strives to have zero recordable MSHA injuries/incidents.\nResponsibilities\nThe Belt Supervisor will effectively supervise and direct a team of hourly employees to ensure efficient operation of belts in accordance with Peabody standards and MSHA regulations and manage equipment in a cost-effective manner.\nDuties will include:\nDuties include changing rollers, making belt splices, and cleaning belts.\nSupervise crew to ensure production goals are being met, this includes setup of employees, safe work practices, and regulatory compliance.\nSupervise crew on belt splices, conveyor belt framing and roller changes and clean-up activities on conveyor belts.\nConduct crew safety and informational sharing meetings, to ensure safe practices.\nCommunicate with Belt Foreman regarding progress and/or any personnel or equipment issues. \nResponsible for teaching new employees the correct belt operation processes.\nFoster and maintain respectful relationships with all levels of personnel. \nPromote, support, and comply with the safety directives and policies at the site.\nPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and/or needed.\nThe Lifestyle:\nThis position may require you to work various shifts (day, evening, and nights) with rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays.as deemed necessary. Benefit eligibility and PTO starts on your first day of work.\nAbout you:\nMust possess a high school diploma or equivalent. \nMinimum 3 - 5 years of underground mining operations and conveyor system experience.\nAlabama Mine Foreman Certification (preferred).\nExperience related to conveyor belt installation and maintenance.\nMust have a high level of understanding MSHA Regulations.\nAbility to communicate with personnel on shift and adjacent shifts.\nCurrent electrical card (relevant state - desired) \nMust be willing to work on any assigned shift, including holidays and scheduled weekends.\nSupervisor and/or crew lead experience preferred. (Union supervisory experience preferred).\nExperience with 72” belt (preferred).\nAbility to follow company, State and Federal plans and policies.\nAbility to utilize Microsoft Office programs. \nExperience in Success Factors, SAP and Kronos is a plus.\nMust have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination.\nMust have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift.\nMust have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area.\nPhysical Requirements - Underground Environment\nMust have ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces.\nMust have ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles.\nMust have ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom.\nWalking ability will be judged according to SCSR emergency evacuation plan required and approved by MSHA.\nMust have ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA.\nMust have ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height.\nMust have ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders.\nMust have ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination.\nMust have ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and the ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 75 pounds.\nMust have ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.\nThis is a Safety Sensitive Role.
