Shoal Creek Mine is one of the deepest underground coal mines in the United States. Located on the Black Warrior River, this site produces one of the highest qualities of met coal in the United States. With nine-foot-tall workings, a brand-new longwall, and 15+ years of projected coal reserves, Shoal Creek mine is an ideal place to work.\nLocated in between Jefferson, Walker, and Tuscaloosa counties in Alabama, this area offers beautiful rivers and lakes, landscapes, and rolling hills at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains. Oakman is about an hour from Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, both of which provide diverse, family-friendly communities with something for everyone, such as vibrant downtowns, safe, friendly neighborhoods, and excellent schools, including the University of Alabama and other area colleges.\nPeabody’s Shoal Creek Mine has a safety-first culture and strives to have zero recordable MSHA injuries/incidents.\nResponsibilities:\nThe responsibility of the Longwall Supervisor is to provide a safe work environment to a crew of employees responsible for the production of coal at the longwall face and/or outby areas, while complying with state and federal regulations, including company policies.\nDuties will include:\nSupervise crew to ensure production goals are being met, this includes setup of employees, safe work practices, and regulatory compliance.\nConduct crew safety and informational sharing meetings, to ensure safe practices.\nComplete daily time records and maintain daily production records.\nProvide oversight of material delivery to designated work areas; and supervise brattice work, setting posts and roof supports, clean up duties, hanging ventilation curtains, and other associated tasks.\nWork closely with the longwall coordinator and maintenance supervisor’s in coordinating scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the equipment.\nResponsible for teaching new employees the correct longwall mining operations.\nFoster and maintain respectful relationships with all levels of personnel. \nComply with and enforce company policies. \nThe Lifestyle:\nThis position may require you to work various shifts (day, evening, and nights) with rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays.as deemed necessary. Benefit eligibility and PTO starts on your first day of work.\nAbout you:\nMust possess a high school diploma or GED and 5 years of equivalent longwall experience.\n3 - 5 years of supervisor experience and/or crew lead experience. Union supervisory experience is a plus.\nMust possess an Alabama Mine Foreman Certification \nMust have a high level of understanding MSHA Regulations\nMust have good verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to utilize Microsoft Office programs. \nMust be willing to work on any assigned shift and on scheduled weekends.\nExperience in mine mechanical and maintenance preferred.\nExperience in implementing longwall automation systems and Bi-directional cutting is a plus.\nExperience in Success Factors, SAP and Kronos is a plus.\nPhysical Requirements - Underground:\nMust have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces.\nMust have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles.\nMust have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying degrees of clearance and headroom.\nWalking ability will be judged according to SCSR emergency evacuation plan required and approved by MSHA.\nMust have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA.\nMust have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height.\nMust have the ability to climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders.\nMust have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination.\nMust have the ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and the ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 75 pounds.\nMust have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.\nThis is a Safety Sensitive Role.
