You will work on picture books, textbooks, novels, workbooks and coffee-table titles — handling interiors, covers and the prepress files that go to the printer.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLay out and typeset book interiors — picture books, textbooks, novels, workbooks and activity books.\nBuild master pages, paragraph and character styles so a whole book stays consistent.\nDesign book covers including front, spine and back, with spine width calculated from the printer's paper spec.\nPlace and position illustrations, photographs and diagrams within the text flow.\nSet front matter and back matter — title pages, copyright, contents, index and appendices.\nApply correct bleed, margin, gutter and safety areas for the binding method in use.\nPrepare print-ready CMYK PDFs and run preflight before handover.\nProduce EPUB and fixed-layout digital editions where required.\nIncorporate proofreader and author corrections across revision rounds without breaking the layout.\nPackage source files with fonts and links, and keep project folders tidy for reprints.\nCoordinate with illustrators, editors and the printer to keep schedules on track.\n\nRequired Skills\n\nStrong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign — master pages, styles, threading and tables.\nGood command of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator for image and vector work.\nSolid typography fundamentals: type hierarchy, leading, tracking, widows, orphans and rivers.\nUnderstanding of print production — CMYK, bleed, trim, imposition and paper stock.\nAbility to work to a grid and keep a 200-page book visually consistent.\nExperience preparing press-ready PDFs and resolving preflight errors.\nFont licensing awareness and careful font management.\nAccuracy under revision pressure, and the patience to proof your own pages.\nClear communication with editors, authors and printers.\n\nPreferred Skills\n\nExperience with trade publishers, educational imprints or self-publishing platforms.\nFamiliarity with Amazon KDP and IngramSpark interior and cover specifications.\nExperience setting multilingual or bilingual books.\nEPUB production and accessibility basics for digital editions.\nBasic InDesign scripting or GREP styles for repetitive formatting.\nWorking knowledge of Affinity Publisher or CorelDRAW.\n\nTamil language reading and typesetting ability is preferred and treated as an added advantage.\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelor's Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Printing Technology or a related field.\n1–3 years of professional book or publication design experience.\nA portfolio showing complete books, not only single pages or covers.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n\nShow us a book you set from manuscript to press. We'd rather see one 120-page title you finished properly — with the interior, the cover and the press PDF — than twenty unrelated design samples. If you can explain a layout problem you hit and how you solved it, that counts for more than the software list on your CV.\n\nApplication Requirements\n\nPlease Include The Following With Your Application\n\nUpdated Resume\nPortfolio showing full book interiors and covers\nAt least one PDF of a complete book you designed\nTitles that have gone to print, with publisher name if you can share it\nSoftware and tools you use regularly\nCurrent Salary\nExpected Salary\nNotice Period\nCurrent Location\n\nWhat We Offer\n\nCompetitive salary based on experience and portfolio.\nWork on real published titles for Indian and international clients.\nA collaborative team of illustrators, editors and designers.\nExposure to the full publishing pipeline, from manuscript to printed copy.\nSupport for learning new tools and production techniques.\n\nJob Details\n\nPosition: Book Graphic Designer\n\nDepartment: Creative Design\n\nExperience: 1–3 Years\n\nLocation: Ambattur, Chennai\n\nJob Type: Full-Time\n\nPreferred Language: Tamil Book Illustrations\n\nInterview: Portfolio Review + Layout Task","description_format":"text","description_chars":4097,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":1,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-27T05:09:15Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":85,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.85,"p_room":1,"age_days":4,"expected_fill_days":21,"reasons":["seen:4","win:early","comp:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-31T05:58:55Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/peacock-design-solutions-book-graphic-designer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/peacock-design-solutions-book-graphic-designer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-31T11:44:37Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":18103,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-01T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":2892338},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=2892338"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fpeacock-design-solutions-book-graphic-designer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fpeacock-design-solutions-book-graphic-designer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fpeacock-design-solutions-book-graphic-designer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/peacock-design-solutions-book-graphic-designer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fpeacock-design-solutions-book-graphic-designer"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3316043}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"peacockdesignsolutions.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3316043},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
