In this critical role, you will serve as an integral part of clients' trusted teams-managing daily Xero records, streamlining compliance workflows, and ensuring accurate, timely financial data drives meaningful business decisions.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nLedger & Transaction Management: Perform daily upkeep of Xero records across multiple client accounts, ensuring precise transaction coding and appropriate GST application.\nAccounts Payable & Receivable: Manage accounts payable by entering and organizing bills via Xero, Hubdoc, Dext, or other client-preferred platforms.\nReconciliation & Reporting: Reconcile account transactions and prepare comprehensive monthly management reports, including executive summaries, cash summaries, Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and aged AR & AP.\nPayroll & HR Support: Process accurate and timely payroll services, set up new client payroll software configurations, manage employee onboarding forms, and customize employment contracts.\nTax Compliance: Audit, check, and process GST returns and monthly PAYE returns.\nClient & Vendor Communication: Manage client email accounts and maintain professional correspondence with suppliers, customers, and internal team members.\nWorkflow & Time Tracking: Record all billable time meticulously in six-minute increments with clear work descriptions and maintain task workflows in Asana.\nRequirements\nHold a formal bookkeeping or accounting qualification.\nMinimum of 5 years of professional New Zealand bookkeeping experience, including hands-on expertise with GST return preparation.\nMinimum 2 years of hands-on experience using Xero.\nPractical understanding of New Zealand tax compliance standards (including PAYE and GST).\nAdvanced written and spoken English communication skills.\nDESIRED (NOT REQUIRED):\nDirect prior experience processing New Zealand payroll.\nFamiliarity with document capture and automation tools such as Hubdoc or Dext.\nExperience operating within task management and workflow platforms like Asana.\nStrong initiative with an analytical eye for spotting discrepancies, optimizing processes, and challenging outdated workflows.\nExceptional organization, time management, and the ability to prioritize effectively under pressure across multiple accounts.\nBenefits\nPaid public New Zealand holidays -
