To learn more about Pearce visit http://www.pearce-services.com.\nYour Impact:\nThe OSP Field Engineer provides training and supportive engineering services through highly detailed collection of telecommunications information from the job site. This position requires a working level of knowledge in all technical aspects of fiber networks. The successful candidate is responsible for in person validation of the existing field design and layout of the telecommunications network to include aerial, buried and underground fiber network design and layout, underground conduit, handhole, building entrance, and riser facilities. May serve as an informal lead to more junior staff from time to time. \nCore Responsibilities:\nIdentify, photograph, & document detailed information of required facilities, including cables, poles, terminals, pedestals, handholes, & other outside plant infrastructure. \nCapture accurate measurements of attachment heights, span distances, utility structures, & distances from existing/proposed OSP facilities to centerlines, property lines, and curb lines \nIdentify power and communication facilities and ownership on utility poles. \nRecord bonding, grounding, guying, and anchor information \nDeliver detailed field notes & photographs to the engineering team \nIdentify relevant obstructions to fiber placement and provide proposed mitigation strategy \nUnderstanding of OSP construction techniques \nAbility to read and understand digital GIS maps, conduit records, and layout drawings \nBe able to effectively utilize tools, such as measuring wheels, height sticks, pull finder, GPS devices, MH/HH hooks, & laser rangefinder \nAble to use electronic devices, such as iPad, iPhone, laptop, file sharing, email, etc. \nCore Experience: \n3+ years of experience in the fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction industry \nHigh School Diploma or equivalent required \nKnowledge of outside plant activities (Fiber Cable Design, Pole Line Construction, Conduit System design), and Make-ready issues \nKnowledge of obtaining right of ways and easements where required, and the ability to make the appropriate notations on the field notes for the desktop teams \nAbility to read and understand as build prints, and be able to identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, select routing of lines and equipment required for projects \nFamiliar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems), ESRI, and shapefile functionality \nAble to identify different types of utilities, potential conflicts, and violations based on regulatory standards (RUS, NESC, GO95, NEC, etc.) \nExperienced in the use of Microsoft Office Suite \nWorking knowledge of AutoCAD (a plus) \nMust have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation with an acceptable driving record, and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. \nGood organizational, written, and verbal communication skills\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nAbility to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds \nExtensive travel and the ability to work on site for numerous projects in various states \nAbility to work outdoors 95% of the time \nAbility to travel up to 100% of the time, by air or vehicle and may require overnight stay up to two weeks at a time \nAbility to travel with short notice \nAbility to follow OSHA/State/Local Safety Standards \nAbility to walk up to 3 miles per day on terrain such as gravel, pavement, grass, etc \nAbility to work in poor weather conditions such as heat, snow, rain, or wind \nAbility to work safely, with or without supervision \nAt Pearce, we are committed to fair and transparent pay practices.
